    About Me

I am a musician who focuses on collaboration and composition, using jazz as the context in which to do this. I teach technical aspects for double and electric bass, but also Jazz Harmony and Improvisation skills. Currently, I'm on the Masters in Jazz program at Luca Arts.

The most current project I'm involved with, the Tenement Jazz Band, are a Scottish group whose focus is on preserving and giving new life to traditional New Orleans Jazz. Hopefully I can bring some of this to Leuven!

I'm also keen in cross-collaborative arts, particularly within the world of circus. I spent three years on the road with Nofit State Circus, actually visiting Zomer Van Antwerpen in 2015, and saw how much music can enhance the visual and spatial experience of a circus show. It's all about bringing people together and at a time like this it's more important than ever to find a way to connect through music.

Piano and/or music theory lessons for every level and age! (NL/EN/FR)
Hey! Have you always wanted to learn to play the piano but aren't sure where to start? Or maybe you just want to take your piano playing to the next level? In either case, you can come to me for piano and theory lessons tailored to your needs! Are you a fan of pop/jazz music rather than classical? We can easily take care of this too! As a young student, I am often closer to the practice of teaching and can sense where the student's goals lie. Very flexible throughout the week and weekends, either at the student's home, at my grand piano, or possibly online (especially music theory).

    Dorelle
Cello and/ or music theory - any age, any level, any musical taste

Classical, pop, film music, improvisation... Anything is possible and open to exploration! For me, music is an enriching experience based on exchange. I enjoy playing alongside my students because it creates a friendly and motivating environment. I guide children with interactive and playful methods, and offer adults and teenagers a structured approach to progress with confidence. What I propose : ✔️ A relaxed posture – Learn to play efficiently and without tension. ✔️ A personalized approach – Lessons adapted to your musical taste and goals. ✔️ Building confidence – Develop technique, musicality, and self-expression. ✔️ A safe space – It’s okay to make mistakes. Be kind to yourself!

Piano Lesson: Enjoy the Music While Learning to Play!
Have you always wanted to learn to play the piano? Or do you want to learn to read music? Maybe you want help with a difficult part? Or do you want to learn how to play without a blade? I would love to help you with that! How do we get started? We naturally start with an introduction so that I know what you want, what you can do and how we can proceed. Step by step without pressure or rush. I have a nice collection of pieces, both classic and modern, that we can start with and you may already have something in mind that you would like to learn. I have had private lessons for 11 years and have been playing this very beautiful instrument since I was 7. The lessons are really only a small part of the musical growth. What matters is that you can enjoy the music you create yourself. If you are interested, feel free to leave a message. The times are negotiable.

Private guitar lessons for every level: from basic chords to out of the box improvisation
Hey! My name is Richard and I give private lessons to all levels. For guitar, it is important that you can improve yourself in a pleasant environment in a fun way where your interests are central. Do you want to delve deeper into a certain style? Do you want to create your own sound on your guitar using amps, and pedals, ...? I can help you with all that! Knowledge of solfège or music theory is not required, we can always discuss this in class if you wish, but that is certainly not mandatory ;) I have been playing the guitar since I was 9 years old and for several years now I have been playing in professional bands with which I have been able to play on sugar rock, for example. The lessons would take place at my home in Mol or via webcam. If necessary, we can always agree on something else. Be sure to let me know if you have any questions and I will answer as soon as possible. See you soon! Richard PS: my specified hours are a guideline, if this does not suit you, you can certainly send us a message and we will try to arrange something :)

Piano lessons for all levels and ages. Relaxed teaching approach!
I have over 12 years of teaching experience and I have been working as a Professional Pianist for 7 years now, in 8 different countries (Switzerland, Austria, Iceland, Spain etc.) and on Luxury Cruise Ships (Worldwide). I can show you how to have fun with the piano. If you're a beginner, I can take you right from step one and have you playing familiar songs by the 1st or 2nd lesson. If you already have some experience, I can add to it. My main goal is helping you achieving your goals and preparing the best lesson for you! I've been playing and studying piano since age 6 (over 25 years ago). I began with classical music, and later added Ragtime, Jazz, Blues, Pop, Rock, and Chord theory. I earned a Bachelor Degree in Piano Performance, Classical Music (4 years). I have participated in numerous Piano Masterclasses in Europe and I studied with great pianists. I still learn from different Highly Accomplished Musicians, I believe learning never stops. I have much to share with my students. TEACHING STYLE I am a very patient teacher. I love teaching all ages. I don't teach everyone the same way. I tailor lessons according to individual goals and needs. I insist on the importance of technique and musicality. I also guide all my students even outside of the teaching time, by responding to all their questions (music theory or technical) and sending them videos. I teach how to prevent Piano Injuries by focusing on proper technique, posture, and practice habits. My professional experience includes coaching students of all levels and ages. I successfully prepared the students with their Piano Exams like ABRSM, Trinity Grade, from grade 1-8, with merits and distinctions, and more advanced exams as well (Performance Diplomas). I teach for the Enjoyment of Music as well. I believe you can learn to play the piano at any age. My oldest student is over 75 years old and my youngest one has 3 years old. They made great progress, I am sure you could do the same. I've never met anyone who didn't have musical abilities! You can be a serious or a recreational player. The only requirement is the willingness to spend some time at the piano. I conduct my lessons using a combination of 4 cameras for optimum visibility, and a quality microphone which my students find very helpful. This allows them to see a very clear visual demonstration alongside my verbal explanation. I can confidently say that Online Lessons are the same as In-Person Lessons. CURRICULUM I do not believe one method works for all students. I have used many different lesson books and resources over the years. For beginners I like to use Alfred method books for basics concepts and for Classical and Jazz Piano technique I like to use ABRSM books (grade 1-8). If my student feels that they can learn better from another books, I am glad to adapt my teaching strategies to their needs. Along with the lesson books below, I use a lot of supplemental materials based on the students' interests. I also aim to teach their favorite songs as soon as possible. I like to clearly explain and demonstrate piano technique. In this way, the students are able to apply the information on similar passages from all genres of music.
