My name is Ben, 33 years old, and because of my red hair I was already 'different' from my classmates in primary school. Over the years I have experienced that thinking differently and acting differently is not always easy, partly because society, including the people in my immediate environment, feel that they have everything. Many people are unconsciously driven by (failure) anxiety and they exhibit risk-averse behavior. For example, my parents said well meaning: You now have such a good (and nice and safe) job: Why would you risk that? Many talk a lot about it, but never take concrete steps towards starting their own business. In the meantime I have experienced that I dare to make different choices than most people. That was and is sometimes exciting, but it brings me success in private and business terms! Many consecutive 'failure' moments have brought me to where I am now: a nice father who fulfills assignments 3 days a week as a Freelance Business Developer and Data / Business Analyst and launches new start-ups in the rest of the time.

Trusted teacher: With over 15 years of teaching experience, I offer private guitar lessons in many styles for all ages and all levels. I am also an active performer, mostly performing my own singer-songwriter music in the folk-rock genre. Classes are offered in English, Dutch and German. I am from Los Angeles originally where I received my degree in music with a minor in Classical Guitar from California State University, Northridge. I have been playing guitar since I was 11 years old. Back in those days, I was mostly inspired by rock music, learning to play by ear by listening to the radio. Later, I went to Conservatory and studied classical music, therefore learning in a more structured way. This gives me a unique approach to teaching, because I understand playing by ear and feeling, as well as having a background in music theory. It is a mix of these two worlds that I offer in my lessons. In this way, my students progress quickly while having a basis of how music works so that they can continue to grow for endless years to come. My approach to teaching is to get lasting results for the students and to make sure they have a great time. The lessons are light and joyful, as music should be. I work hard to make sure my students experience the rewards of reaching new plateaus regularly as they progress. It is also important to me that my students play songs/pieces that they enjoy playing. We will discuss your musical tastes, or work to discover the musical tastes of your child. We were super happy with Francesca ́s lesson! She is such an amazing musician! Also, she really listened to what we wanted to learn and distilled a very complex music piece into something we, absolute beginners, could learn in a short time. We had a lot of fun during the lesson. I would definitely recommend booking a harp lesson with Francesca ! :)
