I know music theory, but it is of no use to me when I have a score in front of me because I cannot see what is written on it. That being said, I have been composing and giving piano lessons for 10 years now and I am a member of SACEM. I know pianos well since I started tuning and repairing them before realizing that I actually preferred playing on them... A very important point for me is to make music accessible, we say "play music". You have to enjoy yourself from the first notes otherwise it's pointless! Pleasure is a driving force no matter the field, if you play the piano just to say play, it's pointless. In my case I still have as much fun as when I started and I'm keen to pass on this passion!
