Each lesson is tailored to the student's level, objectives, and difficulties. When possible, I request to receive the chapter, lesson, or exercises to be covered in advance in order to prepare the session and best target the important concepts. At the beginning of the session, we review what has been understood, what the problems are, and the objectives to be achieved. If some difficulties stem from older gaps in knowledge, I don't hesitate to go back over the basics before continuing: the goal is to build a solid understanding rather than mechanically applying formulas or methods. I then alternate between explanations, concrete examples, and exercises. The first exercises can be done together, detailing the reasoning step by step, and then I gradually give the student more autonomy. I don't simply aim to give them the answer; I guide them so they understand how to reason and can then reproduce the process independently. My philosophy is simple: "There are no stupid questions." The lesson should be a supportive and non-judgmental space where students can ask any questions they wish. If a concept needs to be explained several times or in different ways, that's perfectly fine with me. There's no race against the clock: we progress at the student's pace. I also adapt my method to each individual's profile. I have supported students experiencing difficulties, as well as students wishing to improve their level to achieve more demanding academic goals, and students with special needs, including those who are hard of hearing or dyslexic. Beyond knowledge, I place great importance on methodology: learning to analyze an exercise, identifying important information, organizing one's reasoning and gradually gaining autonomy. Classes can be held in person or via videoconference, with great flexibility in scheduling.

I have over ten years of experience providing individual tutoring at home in science subjects. I always tailor the content of the tutoring sessions to the students' needs. During the first tutoring session, I focus primarily on getting to know the student and any challenges they encounter, by asking questions about their school situation and observing how they engage with the material. Then, I always focus on explaining the material and, if necessary, offering work methods or even tricks that can help the student complete assignments. By asking the right questions, I then guide the student on the path to solving the assignments, gradually building their confidence. Besides working hard, I always strive to create a relaxed atmosphere. The most important factor for the success of tutoring is the student's motivation. This requires good cooperation between parents, child, and teacher. Therefore, I often take the time to communicate with parents about the progress of the tutoring and the student's progress. I always prefer to provide tutoring on a regular basis (e.g. 1 lesson per week). It is also possible to request one or two lessons as additional support for a test or exam. For exam students, I can also, if necessary, set up an intensive exam training course over a limited number of weeks.

Science That Makes Sense – Real Learning with a Real ScientistTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Maths, Physics & Chemistry Tutor – Learn with Understanding, Not Just for Exams For Dutch, IB, British, and International Curricula – Taught in English Hi! I’m a PhD graduate in Materials Engineering with a strong foundation in maths, physics, and chemistry — subjects I’ve not only excelled in throughout my academic journey but have come to deeply enjoy. My research focused on semiconductors and materials science, and I bring that real-world scientific experience into every lesson I teach. I offer tutoring for students across various school systems in the Netherlands — including Dutch (VMBO, HAVO, VWO), IB, British (IGCSE, A-Levels), and international programs — at both secondary and early university levels. But here’s the thing: I don’t believe in just “getting through the syllabus.” I believe in making these subjects meaningful and intuitive. Whether it’s why equations really work, or how chemistry shapes the world around us, I focus on building real understanding — the kind that sticks and inspires. I love teaching. I do this because it’s genuinely exciting to help students unlock difficult concepts and feel confident. You won’t just hear “this is how it’s done” — we’ll figure out why it works, where it applies in real life, and how to think like a problem-solver. I learn alongside you too — every student brings a new perspective, and that keeps things dynamic. Whether you’re struggling, aiming for top grades, or just want to feel more connected to these subjects, I’m here to help — with patience, clarity, and curiosity. Let’s make learning a little more exciting, and a lot more meaningful.

Teacher Raef, is an experienced teacher. My son enjoyed his first online lesson today with Teacher Raef. He’s a very dedicated teacher, dedicated towards his students learning needs and supports. Teacher Raef clears all doubts related to the topic instantly and with great clarity. He guides the student in each and every steps with patience and understanding. The best part of Teacher Raef is that he always encourages the student with his positive attitudes. This develops a sense of confidence in the pupil. Thank you Teacher Raef for your support and guidance to my son!!

Ayoub was very clear and explained things well. He checked if our son understands and gradually increased the level of difficulty. Our 15 year old son liked his lessons very much!

Excellent class with clear instructions and background on the different asanas.
