Are you preparing for a telc German exam or Goethe Certificate and want to focus specifically on what you need to succeed in the exam? My individual exam preparation is designed to help you prepare systematically for the different sections and task types of your exam. We focus particularly on the areas where you need to gain confidence or improve your performance. I have more than 25 years of experience teaching German as a foreign language and extensive experience preparing students for telc and Goethe exams. I am also a certified telc examiner for oral exams from A1 to C2 and an accredited assessor for written exams from B1 to C2. This means that I am familiar not only with the exam formats but also with the requirements and assessment criteria used in practice. I use this experience to help you prepare effectively, particularly for the speaking and writing sections. Targeted exam preparation rather than general German lessons ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Effective exam preparation is not simply about completing as many practice tests as possible. The first step is to identify which parts of the exam you are already confident with and where you need targeted support. Depending on your exam, level, strengths and areas for improvement, we can work on: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - Writing: As a telc assessor for written exams from B1 to C2, I am familiar with the assessment criteria used in practice. We work on understanding the task correctly, structuring your text effectively, using appropriate phrases and meeting the language requirements for your level. You receive detailed feedback on your writing and learn where you may be losing marks and how to improve. - Speaking: Practising typical exam tasks, responding spontaneously, expressing and supporting your opinions, giving short presentations and interacting confidently with an exam partner. - Reading and listening: Developing effective strategies for different types of exam tasks. Vocabulary and grammar: Working specifically on language weaknesses that may affect your exam performance. - Time management: Learning how to complete the different tasks effectively within the time available. - Exam strategies: Understanding task instructions and assessment criteria and avoiding common mistakes. - Mock exams: Practising individual sections of the exam under realistic conditions. You will receive particularly detailed feedback on speaking and writing. Together, we analyse what you are already doing well and identify the areas you need to improve in order to meet the requirements of your exam level more confidently. Have you taken the exam before but not passed? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Not passing an exam does not necessarily mean that your overall German level is too low. Difficulties are often limited to individual sections of the exam, certain task types, exam strategies or time management. In this case, we analyse what may have affected your performance in your previous attempt and focus your training on the areas where you need to improve. If you have a detailed score report or breakdown of your previous exam results, please bring it to your first lesson. This can help us identify your priorities more precisely. When should you start preparing? ------------------------------------------------------ Ideally, you should begin targeted preparation around three months before your exam. This gives us enough time to identify areas for improvement, develop effective strategies and practise the relevant sections thoroughly. Short-term preparation is also possible. If your exam is only three to four weeks away, I generally recommend two to three lessons per week. Each lesson lasts 60 minutes. I recommend a minimum of five lessons; ten lessons are advisable for more comprehensive preparation. Most lessons take place online. Alternatively, one-to-one exam preparation is available at my office in Munich.

I offer you a new learning experience. The focus is on practical application and theory is only introduced where intuition reaches its limits. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced learner, my tailor-made lessons will accelerate your language acquisition in a positive learning environment. You can book a complete course with regular sessions or individual lessons to overcome a specific problem, such as pronunciation or a particular point in grammar. Learning a foreign language is not a linear process that consists of memorising a list of words, and speaking a foreign language is not an oral translation exercise. There are two types of approaches to acquiring knowledge: When asked what year follows 1999, you can immediately answer 2000 without having to think for a long time and, above all, without having memorised each number individually, starting with 1, 2, 3 ... You know that numbers are formed according to a certain pattern. With only ten digits, you can form an infinite number of numbers and always know which number comes next. When it comes to the alphabet, words and sentences, it's more or less the same, but school pedagogy, school textbooks and regular lessons still follow the rote learning approach. In the lessons I propose, you will learn to use patterns because this is more efficient and faster. Learning is easy, but unlearning bad habits is extremely difficult. This makes it all the more important to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. My offer is aimed at both young people and adults who want to learn German or improve their knowledge without wasting time on nonsensical school methods. With a university degree in German language and literature (Master of Arts in German with a specialization in medieval languages and literature) and solid experience, I offer private German lessons for all levels and all age groups. My courses are designed to be adapted to the age, level and specific needs of each individual. They aim to introduce the language, consolidate concepts, fill gaps, and prepare for exams (ECR 8P, compulsory school leaving certificates, entrance exams for gymnasiums, maturity and university exams, Goethe Zertifikat up to B2). Specifics for academic support: Since this is primarily a long-term endeavor, I emphasize methodology by taking the time to "learn how to learn" effectively: every exercise is explained in detail, which may make its execution slower. Quality takes precedence over quantity in order to achieve optimal results over time. Students bring their own course materials (notebooks, textbooks, tablets and/or computers, dictionaries, assessments...). Another important point: in order for my help to be beneficial, it is necessary that the student provides regular personal work between lessons. This essentially involves rereading your notes, repeating exercises similar to those carried out together or even moving forward in learning vocabulary. Specifics for conversation classes: The topics are based on interests and/or specific needs for exam preparation. I attach particular importance to pronunciation, fluency and vocabulary. I usually correct at the end of a conversation exercise with detailed feedback, in order to avoid any blockages and to work on fluency. Depending on the level of the students and/or their expectations (exam preparations/assessments/desire for improvement for example), I work on the choice of appropriate words, grammatical accuracy, the ability to formulate more or less complex sentences. Specifics for exam preparation: The courses offer to acquire solid tools to learn to write, to comment on literary texts and a methodology to work on oral comprehension. The student must bring their own exam preparation brochure, available in all bookstores. For Goethe Institute model exams, the exam books from Cornlesen are particularly suitable. The other alternative would be to download and print before the start of the course a copy of the Goethe Institute exam available on the institute's website. Specifics for listening comprehension: I primarily use audiovisual materials downloaded from the Deutsche Welle website, which offers a variety of recordings suitable for all levels, with a very practical approach. Over time, students not only gain fluency in listening comprehension but also enrich their basic vocabulary through exercises. I also work with the Goethe-Institut's oral tests to familiarize them with spoken language. Specifics for written expression work: I begin by explaining in the first lesson some methodological tools to acquire writing skills. The student has the opportunity to start writing during the course or do a writing exercise on duty and give it to me to correct (send by email or at the beginning of the next lesson). The corrections are explained in detail. In addition, at the time of booking, the student can send me a draft copy before the lesson so that I can meet his needs even more quickly. Besides my presence with the student, every lesson involves preparation time before and after, particularly for the assignments I correct. My goal is to design an individualized course, so I take the necessary time to write detailed comments in my corrections or offer advice to maximize each student's success.
