I am currently in my 3rd year of a bachelor's degree in mathematics at EPFL and I will be studying at University of Oslo from 1.08.2022 until june 2023 . I give courses for all levels from elementary school to graduate school. I give courses in math and physics for all levels up to the first year of graduate studies. I can give the course at home or by video conference. My teaching method is to make the student understand the course and then to help him/her solve the exercises while asking questions to make sure he/she has understood.

I am a passionate teacher and I care for all my students. Learning mathematics is an emotional exercise. I always considered that being a good teacher is not only a mix of professional knowledge and skills, but also an ability to empathise and build relationships with the students. I do believe that the emotional and the affective dimensions of teaching are fundamental to being an effective teacher. When asked to complete the sentence “A good teacher should...”, a French pupil responded “listen to us, support us, teach us”. In all my teaching experience, whether at sixth grade or at college and graduate levels, I have found that instead of getting frustrated with my students’ knowledge gaps and misconceptions, I could make my teaching more satisfying and more effective, by recognizing that all the students have learning potential and intellectual curiosity and by encouraging them to get a deeper understanding of the mathematical concepts. The fluid nature of the Internet creates a learning environment that could be highly motivating for students raised within the digital era. I believe that, since the real purpose of education is to prepare and equip students for what happens beyond the classroom, the online collaborative learning communities can be also very efficient.

Tristan is a Master student in the department of Computer Science at ETH Zurich, where he is specialized in artificial intelligence and data analysis. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Communication Systems at EPFL in Lausanne. I am a French student in Zurich (at ETH) and offers French, maths and physics classes. I'm used to it and I've been tutoring for several years. I like it a lot - I also want to be a teacher and researcher, be patient, even if I expect a lot from the student. The goal is to better understand the basics and show what is interesting in the subject, so that the student is properly motivated.

Mostly, my teaching is concentrated not on exam preparation, which is also possible, but on leading a person through the path of science, showing its hidden beauty and, hopefully, helping him/her to fall in love with the subject. Note about math and physics: I am more oriented on theory. My main goal is not to teach how to solve particular problems (which is also a very important skill to obtain), but to explain the logical chain of thoughts that led to the development of the whole field. In other words, I am leading a person step-by-step to a full understanding of everything that is going on in every equation and idea. Unfortunately, I don't speak German, only English, and Russian.
