In my experience over the past few years as a piano teacher to students of all levels and ages, I have found that people learn so much more when they are able to express themselves and have a fun time from the very first lesson.

For this reason I focus on teaching piano and music through the lens of jazz, which allows for so much freedom as well as being really educational in all different styles of music. In my classes you will learn how music really works in a relevant way by studying music that you yourself enjoy listening to and would like to create, and practice dynamically using tools like backing tracks which make it feel like there is a band in the room with you!

I also produce electronic/funk/neo soul music for my solo project and as a session musician. If learning music production interests you, I can also help you with that!

About Me

I am a musician from Australia and have lived as well in Mexico and Europe, now I am based in Vienna. I have worked as a piano teacher and been playing gigs for the past three years, and have almost ten years experience as a teacher in other fields. I first started singing, studying music and playing instruments (piano, clarinet, saxophone) when I was nine.

In my experience I have found that students learn so much more when they are able to express themselves and have a fun time from the first lesson. For this reason I focus on teaching piano and music through the lens of jazz, which allows for so much freedom as well as being really educational in all different styles of music. My name is Denise and I'm a professional singer with a singing master's degree from Catalonia's Music College (ESMUC) specialized in Historical Singing, Musicology and Music Education.
My experience runs mostly in early and chamber music, nevertheless I also have the experience and knowledge of popular musical styles such as Latin-American folk, jazz and musicals.
As a docent or vocal coach I've collaborated with different academic institutions and private artistic projects, focusing mostly on international students or social integration programs.

I offer private music theory tutoring lessons to students of beginner level of different ages Depending on the student's final goal we adjust the knowledge and skills that we focus on with the student. I mostly focus on classical music theory, but can also provide an introduction to jazz and pop music theory.

This course is for anyone from complete beginners to advanced students, from lessons that focus completely on classical music to lessons that include or focus on the basics of jazz/pop. If you like to sing, we can also work on the basics of jazz/pop vocal, so you can learn to accompany yourself at the piano.

So who am I?
In a nutshell, I am a professional pianist, vocalist, lyricist and blogger. Since 2014, I have taught in various music schools, teaching piano, ensemble, jazz vocal, and solfege.
On a more elaborate note, I obtained my Master of Arts in classical piano, summa cum laude, at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent (KASK) in 2017, and studied as a Fulbrighter at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington USA during the 2019-2020 academic year.

I offer piano lessons for adults and children, tailored to your goals and preferences. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes. Lessons are conducted in English, German and Russian. I teach piano at home in Vienna’s 3rd district and online on a beautiful Yamaha piano.

I have a full class of 13 students. Each semester, I organize a recital. If they wish, even my online students can take part through a live stream :)

I am an award-winning pianist in international competitions, a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky (BA), and currently a student at the Anton Bruckner University in Austria (MA).

I have developed my own teaching methodology, which varies depending on the student's age, skill level, and preferences. With extensive teaching experience for both adults and children, I have completed pedagogical practice and a piano teaching methodology course at the Moscow Conservatory. My online setup makes the lessons feel just like in-person: I use a tripod to demonstrate my hands and provide an online screen display for sheet music. After each lesson, I send video tutorials for clear, visual examples.
