I am a Canadian-born native English speaker who is proficient in Estonian and have lived in Tartu for approximately eight years. My formal higher education includes a BA from the University of Toronto (Sociology, Semiotics), MA from Tartu University (Sociology), and a BEd from the University of Toronto (Primary-Junior Education). I am a board certified teacher (Ontario College of Teachers) who is in good standing. My formal teaching experience includes over ten years in an elementary public school setting (Canada, Ontario) and USA, Hawaii). Additionally, I have worked in Tokyo, Japan as an English teacher working with students aged 5 to 50+, including conversational, business, and formal English. Prior to working as a teacher I worked in Higher Education Administration for several years at some of the most competitive universities in Canada and the United States where I supported and managed on-campus student leaders. Awni is a wonderful instructor! He is very patient, will answer any question you can think of, and can have a laugh with you during lessons as well! His lessons are very helpful and structured, he is willing to go at your pace and repeat or go over things as many times as needed. It is very evident he is professional and has more than enough education and knowledge to teach the language very thoroughly!! I would highly recommend to take him as a teacher!
