My name is Shuchen — I’m a trained visual artist from China and France, now based in Delft. Each week we explore a new topic or technique — from line drawing, sketch to painting. Get to know materials: pencil, charcoal, acrylic, oil painting, Chinese ink. Dive in to various styles: Impressionism, Fauvism and Surrealism — just like in real art school. Every session is beginner-friendly and independent, so you can join anytime. It’s perfect if you want more than a one-time experience — and want to grow real skills over time. Most short workshops focus on just one thing — plant, portrait or landscape. But real artists learn to see and understand the principles. So that you can find your own way to create. In my workshops, we go deeper and learn the grammer of visual art: exploring value, color theory, composition and creativity through many styles. Think of it like an art school evening — but cozy, flexible, and beginner-friendly. 👩‍🎨My teaching method: I’m an art teacher with my own atelier, and I also teach at a local art centre. I run creative workshops for both kids and adults from all kinds of backgrounds. I love designing classes that mix hands-on technique with Art history. I’m really enjoying guiding people discover their own expression in art. My approach tend to be student-focused which also shaped by my international background. For me, it is important creating a welcoming space where people feel free and inspired to explore. Graduated with a CUM LAUDE distinction and great Honours from a master's program in Global Archaeology at Leiden University, where I achieved an 8.6/10 for my thesis on "Human Brain Evolution." This research develops a theory combining archaeology, biology and neurology, and reveals how ancient populations' brain development are influenced by environmental factors and material objects. My educational background includes a Pre-master program in Archaeology at Leiden University, graduated with an 8.2/10, and a Bachelor's degree in History of Art and Archaeology, graduated with Honours. These programs have equipped me with strong analytical, synthesizing, and research skills. I am actively seeking a position in archaeology, heritage management, museums, or other cultural institutions that will allow me to consolidate and further develop my research and synthesis skills. Combining my rigorous academic training with diverse hands-on experiences, I bring a well-rounded skill set and a passion for uncovering, understanding and sharing the knowledge of the past. Trusted teacher: Undergo with your love, muse, partner, or all of these at once, a romantic course of painting a nude. One of you will give up their clothes for a morning, afternoon or evening, whilst the other paints them in the style of a famous nude portrait of their choice, (like Venus of Urbino - 1585 by Titian). Hosted by Artists and art historians Tonny and Janne Igbuwe. They will take you on a sensory journey through history, intimacy and artistry. You'll be invited into the Artist's studio (decorated like the chosen painting to the best of our ability) where you'll be received with a drink and a small appetizer. During the workshop, you will not only learn about painting techniques and portraiture, but we'll also explain the history behind the painting you'll be recreating. A spectacularly romantic experience to never forget. Location: Jan Zijvertstraat, Geuzenveld, Amsterdam. During the workshop you will not only learn about painting techniques and portraiture, but we will also explain the history of the painting you are going to imitate.
