After graduating from Portland State University (Portland, OR, USA) with a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics in March of 2018 I will now be working on an M.Sc. in Ecology.

I have experience both with private tutoring and with teaching large groups of students. For the last three years I have taught and tutored everything from introductory secondary school mathematics to University level calculus and Ordinary Differential Equations.

Being an older graduate student myself, my approach to teaching is unique and I often find ways of communicating well with student's that don't necessarily enjoy doing mathematics or science.

I can make Math, Physics and the rest of science fun again! Not to mention I am open to working with students regarding English (and the speaking or writing or English).

I graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics before coming to KU Leuven to work on my Master's Degree (and eventually PhD) in Astronomy.

I have tutored and taught mathematics up through ordinary differential equations but also at younger levels (like secondary or high school level mathematics). I've been tutoring/teaching for almost 3 years now and have worked with clients ranging from the University level to early secondary school work.

I have a unique approach to mathematics and physics that allows me to work well with students who don't necessarily find mathematics and science enjoyable. My goal is to show everyone that mathematics and physics is doable for all!

I am an interpreter by training and have decided to provide private language lessons in addition to translation and interpretation. Whoever wants to improve her or his command of English quickly and in a focused way has come to the right place.

At the start of a new series of lessons, I first test the level of the student, so that I know where I am and what the way forward is.
I ask my student what his or her ultimate goal is and try to adjust my lessons accordingly. Does she or he want to have a better command of the grammar rules? Does she or he want to be able to speak more confidently in front of an audience? Does she or he want to communicate with international friends or colleagues?
In general, I organize my language lessons according to three pillars: Language proficiency, which mainly consists of vocabulary and expressions and can be considered as the building blocks; Grammar, which includes the rules of the language and is the mortar or binder of the language; and Culture, which includes knowledge about the countries in which a language is spoken and can be seen as the architectural style.

I have had the opportunity to work with teenagers for 5 years now as a student associate in a science center, as a mentor and a lecturer in a different field. The best way to understand a language is being exposed to it, whether through books, movies, songs or social media. In my classes, only motivation is required. During the first class, we explore your needs and what I can offer you. Outside and during my classes, you are your own teacher. The higher you expose yourself to the language, the quicker you'll master it. I am your coach who will guide you through it and give you some tools along with tips and tricks to master the basics. I am willing to help you as long as you need. If you want my help one hour for French and one hour for Dutch per week, or only 30 minutes/week for Dutch, that is up to you! Additionally, I offer group sessions of maximum 4 persons per session. It is your responsability to look for your classmates if that is something you are up to.
