I have over 10 years of experience teaching Swahili as a second language to learners from diverse backgrounds, including beginners, expatriates, travelers, professionals, and researchers. I have taught Swahili for daily communication, travel, academic research, and professional use across East Africa.

As a native Swahili speaker with an MA in Kiswahili, I combine academic depth with practical teaching methods. This course is for anyone who wants to learn Swahili. Swahili is a very common language in Africa and it will be very useful for those who travel there, especially in the region of the great lakes. This course focuses mainly on grammar and oral communication to allow students to express themselves correctly quickly. Reading/writing is very close to speaking and is learned quickly. The objective of my course is to give students the opportunity to experience this language. So I try to help students project themselves into Swahili culture through dialogue, music and poetry. Depending on the progress and experience of the student, a trip to East Africa is strongly recommended to complete the knowledge acquired during these courses. This immersion will give the student the opportunity to experience, if only for a moment, the magic of the region where Swahili comes from.
