I studied Linguistics, the science of languages at the University of Cambridge, and as such, I am well-versed in thinking about language in an advanced level and familiar with different language exams (e.g. IELTS). This experience is going to be very advantageous for you when going through the perhaps more confusing aspects of English. Over the years, as Access Officer of a Cambridge society, I helped 60+ people with their university applications, and I learnt what makes a good letter of motivation. I can help you with how to connect your experiences in order to create the perfect applications for jobs and universities alike!

I run my classes depending on your needs - do you feel more comfortable studying in your home or in a cafe? We focus on writing, speaking or both, all dependent on what your aim is and where your abilities are. In any case, I assign homework after every class, to allow you to consolidate your knowledge.

Do you want to become confident and proficient in English? I am a patient and motivated teacher, who would love to help you transform into a fluent English speaker!

I studied Linguistics, the science of languages at the University of Cambridge, which means I am going to be able to recognise which aspects of your English knowledge need the most help. This is going to be very advantageous for you when going through the perhaps more confusing aspects of English grammar and pronunciation. I am also familiar with a number of English language exams (e.g. IELTS), and would be happy to help you prepare for these.

The content and the pacing of my classes depend on your needs - whether you are a beginner, a restarter, intermediate or someone who lacks confidence when speaking English. In any case, expect a lot of dialogues! These are elementary for building courage for using the language. I also give homeworks, because I feel they are important to consolidate your knowledge.

I tutor in French and English to a wide range of students, from beginners to more advanced students. The point for both classes is to give beginners a glimpse into the beauty of the language and to introduce them to the basics in an entertaining and enjoyable way. The ultimate objective of these classes would be to ensure that beginners, by the end of the lessons, have acquired fair understanding, listening, and writing skills. On the other hand, advanced students are expected to experience even further progress in such skills. It must be noted that I will try to give each lesson in the targeted language, privileging the latter as much as possible during the lesson so as to help the student dive into the language.

Ik geef bij les aan kinderen die moeite hebben met reken /lees onderwijs bij de onder en midden bouw. Helaas merken steeds meer ouders (ook vanwege passend onderwijs) dat hun kind niet het tempo bijhoudt wat op school wordt gevraagd. Ik werk zelf al meer dan 20 jaar als onderwijs assistente, sinds 2 jaar geef ik extra reken en lees ondersteuning in het reguliere onderwijs. Veel kinderen valken soms net buiten de boot en verdienen net wat meer aandacht en diepgang. Ik werk vanuit de methode waar het kind op school mee werkt.

My knowledge of the English language is very large. I obtained the Cambridge English Diploma at C2 level. This is the highest qualification of English achievable in Europe and indicates fluent English communication from a competent English speaker. I also follow an English study, which keeps my knowledge optimal.

I passed the IB diploma program for Biology Standard Level with full marks, I also received a 7 on my Internal Assessment (IA). I have a very good grasp on what the IB expects from it's students (all the weird and wonderful little criteria.) I have a very good grasp on Biology the subject itself, as it was one of my favorite classes and I understand the concepts on a broader and more minute scale, so I can help students to understand the topics as well as the specifics and how they all play into one another. I aim to provide students with not just the memorization of information in a somewhat robotic sense, but an actual understanding and comfortable grasp on all the topics, ideas and concepts. I can help with any homework or course work provided, including providing feedback and guidance on essays and assignments. I also like to set out extra homework (not difficult, just based on our sessions) to get back to me at the next meeting so that the student's confidence and grasp on the subjects continues to build and I can see where exactly they need assistance.

NB: prior to our meetings, if possible, I would appreciate being sent whatever course work or topics the student is currently doing in class (or the syllabus, in the best case scenario) in order to best maximize my planning and ability to assist.

I provide tutoring and homework support for English. This does not only concern English grammar, spelling and vocabulary, but also reading comprehension, literature and translation theories.

In my lessons I focus entirely on what you need help with. For example, if you would like extra explanation about things you run into, or would like guidance with homework or when preparing a paper, a book summary or a speaking assignment, I would be happy to help you with that!

I keep the classes flexible. For example, these can always be canceled and they do not have to be scheduled with much time in advance. I want to keep my relationship with the student and parents personal, as I am only a student myself.

In addition to my Baccalaureate (Mention bien), I also studied political science in Paris (Panthéon-Assas) for a year.

I can teach at the student's home or online via webcam. I don't have my study schedule yet, so we will agree the class hours privately. My name is Barbara, a student at Maastricht University and an English teacher. Our classes will be very diverse. As I am Polish and I study international law at Maastricht University, I will only teach in English. I will be using many different teaching methods; from reading some english stories, watching english short films to directing live scenes with me. I have some experience tutoring small children in Poland. I provide French and English lessons for all levels and domains,whether business, academic, social, or simply for the joy of learning a rich and fascinating language. I can help you develop your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in both French and English. From grammar and syntax to vocabulary enrichment, I use a personalized, pedagogical approach based on your individual needs and shared learning goals we define together.

MY EXPERIENCE
As a native French speaker, I know the beauty and poetry of the language inside and out, and I’m excited to share it with anyone curious to dive in. Since high school, I’ve offered private tutoring to students aged 10 to 17, helping them with everything from grammar worksheets and book reviews to philosophy essays and creative writing assignments.

As for English, I was raised in an international school environment where English was a core part of my education from childhood through high school. I earned my TOEFL certificate before beginning my current bachelor’s studies, which are entirely in English. I've also taught English with a focus on pronunciation, grammar, syntax, and practical communication skills.

TUTORING SET-UP
When tutoring, I place strong emphasis on tracking progress, often by assigning homework (if agreed upon) and creating clear, structured plans to help students stay on track. I’m always flexible and happy to adapt to each learner’s feedback and preferences to make lessons as enjoyable and engaging as possible.

I offer lessons online or in person—either at my place or yours. Thanks to my bilingual upbringing (with a German mother) and my French-German high school diploma (AbiBac), I can also provide instruction in German if needed.
