I have years of experience as a teacher of English, and as a teacher of Dutch at Berlitz and Serasta Trainingen in Vlaardingen.

Want ik vind lesgeven het leukste wat er is. Wanneer jij als leerling of student iets begrijpt nadat je daar misschien wel heel veel moeite mee had, dan ben ik superblij!
Ik maak vaak gebruik van niet alledaags lesmateriaal. Bijvoorbeeld podcasts (en er zijn er genoeg te vinden die bij jouw interesses aansluiten), of korte films of een leuke leestekst. Want leren moet leuk zijn en blijven.
Zo heb ik al veel volwassenen geholpen om over hun ´angstdrempel´ heen te komen wanneer zij in het Engels bijvoorbeeld op hun werk een presentatie moeten geven.
Maar ook jongeren zijn van harte welkom. Samen kijken we naar wat jij nodig hebt, en hoe we de lessen kunnen gaan invullen.
En heb je een dag dat het allemaal niet zo lekker loopt? Geen probleem, dan verplaatsen we de les naar een andere dag.

During the introductory meeting we will first discuss your wishes, what English is needed for, interests, and very importantly, your current level in order to draw up a lesson plan. And of course we also look at preferences regarding teaching style, because this can differ per student.

After my studies as a Second Degree English teacher, I enjoyed teaching for a number of years.
I was also co-owner of my own translation/text agency Dutch/English and English/Dutch.

I continued my translation work from various English-speaking countries. I lived and worked in Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia, where I learned to speak English like the locals.

During my long time abroad I followed various studies, including in the field of music, linguistics and animals (especially horses).

After many years abroad, I returned to the Netherlands in 2017 and now enjoy teaching English (online).

Because I have lived in various English-speaking countries for almost 30 years, my English is exceptionally good. I have learned a bit of culture from each country and of course also some local pronunciation, and when I cheerfully greet you with a G'day mate! then that might be the first Australian expression you hear. But of course you first learn 'proper English', so that everyone can understand you!

I use several methods which are specially conceived to teach Dutch to people who have a different mother tongue. I really like to use methods out of the ordinary like role games or methods with which you learn while playing. All these adapted to the student's situation of course. During this time, I also spent two years working at a private school called Florimont, where I supported students aged 11-16 across various subjects by assisting them with their homework.
