About Me
In 1996 I obtained the Cambridge Advanced English Certificate. After completing my studies, I worked for 17 years for an NGO in an "English-American" environment. Afterwards, English became a second mother tongue for me, and now I help others achieve the same result. To date, I have 25 years of experience in language teaching. I have taught English in several countries, which has taught me to adapt to the particularities of each class and the aptitude of each student.
Today I teach online video lessons. This method is personal: because I find myself face to face with a student thanks to a Web Cam, just like during a regular class, but also easily adaptable to the needs of my students: because I have all the articles on the internet at hand. In video conferencing, the exchange of documents is easy, and the chat serves as a slate for explanations and to do exercises. Often my students are busy people who want to take English lessons after work or overworked students who do not have much time; video lessons are perfect for them because these lessons can take place late in the evening or early in the morning, or while traveling. Having contact online also means that I am always available for revisions or emergency advice.
For my students, I aim not only to ensure good grades or help them achieve their personal goals, but also, if time allows, to help them acquire a bilingual level. This will allow them to maintain their own level for the rest of their lives by reading a variety of English literature and watching films in their original versions. To achieve this, I first ensure their understanding of grammar while building vocabulary regularly. I find Oxford Bookworm Readers and Penguin Readers to be superb resources for practical grammar assimilation and simultaneous vocabulary growth, especially because of their wide range of topics. We start with level 0 (200 words) and progress to level 6 (3,000 words) by choosing the most interesting topics, discussing passages read, and discovering the richness of English literature. Once you understand that learning English can be fun, it's hard to stop. When you've comfortably mastered level 6, you're ready to read any unsimplified books you like.
