Have you ever listened to a song or a piece of music you like and thought: "How does this work? Can I do this myself? How do I even start?"
If so, I'd be glad to help you get started on your own music.
I'll show you around the world of composition and music theory, and help you master concepts like chord progressions, the circle of fifths, melody and scales, tension and release, instrumentation, and much more. With the help of a few useful guidelines, we'll discover what kind of music you want to make, and set out on making it.
I'm on my second year bachelors in music composition (specialized in contemporary classical and music for film and videogames), the conductor of a local choir and enjoyer of a wide variety of genres and styles, and I look forward to help you hone your creative spirit!

Reading music is in my opinion necessary for the more advanced theory, so if you need it, we can start the first few lessons with that
Having a piano or keyboard at home is a bonus, but not a necessity
A computer/laptop with music notation software is very handy. You can download Musescore for free if need be (it's the software I use myself)

Momenteel student Compositie aan het conservatorium te Gent, maar al levenslang genieter en onderzoeker van al wat muziek is.
Mijn naam is Simon, en ik houd mij voornamelijk met compositie en muziektheorie bezig. Ik ben origineel klarinettist, maar vond al snel de piano als tweede liefde, en later de saxofoonfamilie en stem. Ik co-dirigeer ook een koor, waarvoor ik arrangementen schrijf.

Hi! I'm a violinist currently finishing a Master's in Music at Royal Conservatory in Ghent. I started playing violin at the age of 6, and studying with numerous professors made me realize how important an individualized pedagogical approach is for good development. My aim is to motivate students to be creative and enjoy playing music, helping them express their own ideas. Tailor-made cello lessons for all ages and levels!

I studied at the conservatories of Antwerp and Ghent and obtained my master's degree as a performing musician and my diploma in specific teacher training. In addition to experience as a performing musician, I am also active as a teacher of solfège and cello. I have experience as a teacher with children and adults.

Would you like to learn to play the cello? Or would you like to improve your technique? Be sure to send me a message and we will make a schedule based on your wishes, agenda and interests! Being able to read notes is not a must, we can also tackle this during the lessons.

I am a pianist with years of experience in piano teaching, having completed my master's degree at the Conservatory in Ghent. My lessons are adjusted to your specific needs. The main goal is that my students experience the joy and happiness of playing the piano and gain a deeper understanding of music.

My drum lessons can go in all directions. From jazz to pop and rock and hip hop. Always starting from a good technical basis and live guidance. For all levels and age groups. Usually I build up the lessons from technical exercises. These serve as a warm-up and basic vocabulary for the student. The technical exercises start with simple single strokes but quickly build up to rolls, accents, double strokes and flams. The second part of a lesson covers the knowledge of different grooves. Both two-part and three-part grooves are part of the lesson package, but also quintuplets of grooves. In the last part of the lesson, the student has the freedom to bring his own music and analyze it during the lesson.

Clarinet lessons at all levels: from absolute beginners to advanced players.
For me as a teacher it is very important to start from the wishes, needs and competences of the student himself.
You can follow lessons via webcam, or at your home near the Ghent - Kortrijk region.

Today - after completing an extensive selection procedure - Laurens is professionally active as a clarinetist with the Royal Marine Band, one of the prestigious orchestras of the Belgian army.

In addition to his education at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, Laurens has had the opportunity to learn several times in a number of masterclasses by, among others, Arno Piters (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Davide Lattuada (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Bart de Karter (New Amsterdam Clarinet Quartet), Pascal Moragues (Orchester de Paris), Ricardo Mataredonna (The La Monnaie Theatre), David Van Maele (Royal Music Chapel of the Guides), Bart Watté (Royal Music Chapel of the Guides) etc.

Both as a freelancer and an active member, Laurens has played in various orchestras, such as the Royal Band of the Belgian Air Force, Frascati Symphonic, the Euregio Youth Orchestra, the Mahler Student Festival Orchestra, La Chapelle Sauvage, Flanders Young Symphony Orchestra, the Ghent University Symphony Orchestra, the Ghent University Harmony Orchestra...

Since 2021, Laurens has been a member of the Meraki Wind Quintet, with which he has already successfully participated in a number of competitions, including the IMC International Music Competition 2023 (1er Prix à l'unanimité), the Euterpe Music Awards 2022 (gold prize), the Classic Pure Vienna International Music Competition 2022 (special mention), and the Fanny Mendelssohn International Online Competition 2022/23 (second prize).

In addition, Laurens is also active as a conductor, both in a symphonic and harmonic orchestra. He takes conducting lessons with Kristiina Posska (chief conductor of Flanders Symphony Orchestra), Bart Picqueur (composer and conductor) and Dimitri Bracke (conductor) and is active as a permanent conductor with the Fantasietjes in the Muziekvereniging Bellegem and freelance with various other associations.

Customized lessons:
Teaching beginning children, beginning adults, or experienced students are completely different experiences that require completely different methods.

A constant focus in all cases is to ensure that students learn notation and music reading, which gives them some independence.

As a first step, I create a plan together with the student, depending on his or her personal goals, and supplement this with musical pieces that I think will complement the learning path.

Hello! My name is Marcos, I am a clarinetist and I live in Brussels. I offer private lessons in person (they can be at your place or mine) or online.
I have experience as a teacher for the last few years with children, adults, individual and group classes. Professional or amateur level.

I offer piano lessons in English, French or Italian for students of all ages and levels. Lessons focus on developing technique, musical understanding, listening skills, and artistic expression.

My teaching is grounded in the Faber Piano Adventures method and enriched with creative activities such as improvisation, four-hand duets, and simple composition exercises. Each lesson is adapted to your interests and pace, whether you are learning for personal enjoyment, creative exploration, or to support other musical practices.

For more advanced students, I also incorporate selected excerpts from Mikrokosmos by Béla Bartók, as well as pieces from the classical repertoire chosen in dialogue with the student.

As a conservatory-trained singer and composer with five years of teaching experience, I bring a dynamic, relational approach that connects instrumental technique with creativity and personal expression. Lessons take place in the student’s home in Ghent, Brussels, and nearby areas, and last 30, 45, or 60 minutes depending on age and level.
