Ik heb eerdere ervaringen met het lesgeven aan volwassenen en leerlingen van het basis- en middelbaar onderwijs in Italië, Oostenrijk en Australië. Wat mijn leservaring betreft, heb ik ook volwassenen uit verschillende leeftijdsgroepen bijles gegeven in het Italiaans, Duits en Frans. Hierdoor heb ik een diverse achtergrond en heb ik veel te bieden. Ik stop veel passie in wat ik doe en ik ben een erg geduldige leraar. Voordat ik docent werd, ben ik altijd taalstudent geweest, dus ik weet wat een student nodig heeft.

Tijdens ons eerste gesprek luister ik naar jouw doelen en maak ik vervolgens een studieplan op maat dat bij jouw wensen past. Meestal zorg ik voor al het studiemateriaal, zodat je geen boek hoeft te kopen. Als u dat wenst, kunt u graag een taalboek gebruiken.

- I'm a professional Italian teacher from Italy, now living between Pisa and Rome. I have 10 years of teaching experience. Ik heb privé les gegeven en aan taalscholen zoals La Scuola Italiana del Greenwich Village in New York en ItalCultura, de school van het Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago. Tijdens de eerste paar lessen zal ik ervoor zorgen dat je de tools hebt om alle klanken van de Italiaanse taal uit te spreken en te herkennen. Deze stap is essentieel! En het zal alles achteraf gemakkelijker maken. Als ik Italiaans geef, probeer ik alle dingen te vermijden die ik als taalstudent haatte. We zullen echte liedjes, echte literatuur gebruiken, echte gesprekken voeren en verhalen vertellen. Als je al je zintuigen aanspreekt, is het gemakkelijker om je geest ontspannen te houden en nieuwe woorden te onthouden.

Ik zal mijn materialen aanpassen aan uw interesses, behoeften en gewenst tempo. En omdat u van een native Italian leert, leert u ook over de Italiaanse cultuur en geschiedenis. Je zult een manier van denken absorberen, niet alleen grammaticale regels.

Ik spreek een heleboel talen, dus ik weet het een en ander over hoe vervelend taallessen kunnen zijn. Mijn angstaanjagende leraar Frans op de middelbare school liet ons dezelfde nepdialoog uit een heel slecht boek ad nauseam herhalen, keer op keer. Sommige van die dialogen staan in mijn geheugen gegrift: “Bonjour, je m'appelle Richard Drapeau, je viens du Canada, je suis Canadien...”

Als ik Italiaans les geef, probeer ik alle dingen te vermijden die ik haatte als taalstudent. We gebruiken echte liedjes, echte literatuur, doen een echt gesprek en vertellen verhalen en we gaan door op 'praatwandelingen', omdat wanneer je je zintuigen inspireert, het gemakkelijker is om je geest ontspannen te houden en nieuwe woorden te onthouden.

Ik studeer Lingue e Letterature Straniere (vreemde talen en literatuur) van Università Roma Tre (gelijk aan een Amerikaanse MA) en een master of Fine Arts in interdisciplinaire kunst en media van Columbia College Chicago. Ik schreef een scriptie over het vertalen van een lang episch gedicht van WH Auden en ik probeerde op een paard door Amerika te rijden.
