Engels is een wereldtaal. Je kunt bijna overal met Engels terecht. Daarom is het belangrijk dat je het Engels enigszins beheerst en dat je je verstaanbaar kunt maken. En daar ben ik voor, om de mensen, jong of oud, te helpen om Engels te leren of hun Engels te verbeteren.

Werkwijze:

Eerst maak ik van elke cursist een inschatting van aanleg voor, en reeds aanwezige kennis van het Engels.

Tijdens het lesgeven vind ik de volgende elementen belangrijk:
1. Het creëren van een vriendelijke en prettige sfeer waarin de cursist zich enthousiast gaat voelen.
2. Discipline. Hiermee wordt bedoeld dat de cursusleider en de cursist(en) doen wat van ze wordt verwacht.
3. Van simpel naar ingewikkeld, afgestemd op aanleg en ervaring van de cursist(en).
4. Veel oefenen en herhalen van vorige lessen.
5. Gestructureerd werken. Dit betekent vooral werken aan de grammatica van het Engels omdat grammatica structuur geeft aan een taal.
6. Geregeld toetsen.

- De beschikbaarheidstijden zijn globaal. De tijdstippen voor lessen worden in overleg met de student bepaald en van opgegeven beschikbaarheidstijden mogen afwijken.
- Ik geef liefst online lessen. Maar, kan ook, eventueel, bij leerling thuis in de buurt van Leiden.

Ik ben Seyyed en ik verzorg lessen Engels voor beginners en voor diegenen die hun Engels willen verbeteren. Ik ben een ervaren taaltrainer en bied een cursus Engels aan om: te spreken, te luisteren, te lezen en te schrijven. Ik ben in het bezit van een diploma van het "Institute of Linguists'.

De laatste drie jaar ben ik bezig geweest met het geven van Engelse les aan geïnteresseerden: senioren die het Engels gewoon wilden leren; studenten die zich wilden voorbereiden voor hun examen; jongens van middelbare school die hun leerstof(wiskunde, natuurkunde, etc.) in het Engels wilden leren en mensen die in het buitenland een workshop wilden verzorgen. Jong of oud help ik graag mensen.

I offer online or face-to-face English lessons to non-native speakers. I work with the student to identify learning objectives and any areas of weakness and tailor the lesson accordingly. Areas covered during the lesson include, speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar accent reduction.
I currently live in Den Haag, The Netherlands. In addition to private coaching, I also work for an online ESL company delivering English lessons to children across a range of age groups. In addition, I also work as an ESL proofreader and IELTS private tutor here in The Hague. I hold a BA (Hons) degree and have a CELTA qualification. Prior to a career in ESL English teaching, I worked in the UK national press for the Times and Financial Times newspapers. It was there I developed my proofreading and communications skills.
In my spare time, I write articles for magazines and have had feature stories published in The Telegraph magazine, The Daily Mail and a number of health magazines. I have also written two language books. The first, 'I Already Speak Speak French!' is an illustrated book for children that covers the etymology of many English words to their French origin (attached is a sample of it for your interest!). It has been translated for the French market into, 'I Already Speak English!' The second book is called, 'Learn Business English FAST!' which draws on a teaching methodology used for effective, fast learning that I used whilst teaching English for the international company, GoFluent.

Languages are not only an awesome skill to have, but they also act as a doorway into life and success. Speaking several languages enables you to connect with people worldwide. From my own experience as a trilingual, languages have helped me discover cultures and give me the feeling of truly belonging to a community even when I am far from home. Languages give you the courage to plant your roots in new soil no matter where you go.

Da Französisch meine Muttersprache ist und ich bis zu meinem Abitur Französisch gelernt habe, ist es für mich mehr als selbstverständlich, Französisch zu sprechen und zu unterrichten.
Nachdem ich einige Jahre in Deutschland gelebt und Prüfungen bestanden hatte, erhielt ich das B2 Telc-Zertifikat in Grammatik. Es wird mir eine Freude sein, bei der deutschen Sprache (Grammatik, Wortschatz, Aussprache, Diskussion, Lesen, Hören und Schreiben) zu helfen, da ich mich sehr für diese Sprache und die deutsche Kultur interessiere.

Endlich kann ich auch Englischkurse anbieten, da ich das C1-Niveau habe und ebenfalls seit einem Jahr in Neuseeland lebe.
Die Dreisprachigkeit hat mir gezeigt, wie wichtig und bereichernd es ist, auf beruflicher Ebene viele Sprachen zu sprechen, aber auch auf persönlicher Ebene, um andere Kulturen zu verstehen und so viele Menschen kennenzulernen.

Engels is een taal die steeds belangrijker wordt en algemeen wordt erkend als een essentiële vaardigheid. Daarnaast kan het leren van een nieuwe taal een van de leukste activiteiten zijn die je kunt doen, en ik help je hier graag bij!
Mijn naam is Louis, ik ben 23 jaar oud en heb Engels als moedertaal. Voordat ik naar Nederland kwam, heb ik meer dan 16 jaar in het Verenigd Koninkrijk gewoond; mijn hele schoolopleiding vond plaats in het Engelstalige Britse schoolsysteem. Dit heeft met name cliënten geholpen, met kinderen die hier op een Britse school zaten.

Ik heb mijn lessen zo ontworpen dat ik de basisvaardigheden ontwikkel die nodig zijn om gesprekken te voeren en succesvol te zijn in een Engelstalige omgeving. Ik wil ook lesgeven aan studenten die al een gevorderd niveau hebben, maar extra hulp nodig hebben (vaak met de technische kant, bijvoorbeeld de regels rondom de tijden en andere grammaticale punten).

De lessen verlopen het beste als je één op één lesgeeft, maar ik heb ook al eerder lesgegeven in kleine groepen (minder dan 5 personen).

Most people need to revise the basics of language over and over again in order to master it, and having a good knowledge of how the language works at its core, i.e. its grammar, will help improve one's language skills drastically.
I think the best way of learning a language is by familiarizing yourself with it. I therefore like to conduct my lessons mainly in the target language. Moreover, I will tailor my lesson to the students' needs, a language has 4 core parts (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking), and each of us has different strong points and weaknesses when it comes to expressing ourselves in a second language.
I will ways try to keep a relaxed learning environment where the student feels comfortable learning and making mistakes.

ABOUT ME
My name’s Tom and I’m an English teacher from Southeast England. Now I live in the Hague, Netherlands. I teach English learners how to communicate more clearly.

I have taught for various schools and agencies in the Netherlands and been frustrated by the lack of high-quality materials and expertise in the pronunciation teaching field. So in 2021 I set up my freelance teaching business to change the situation.

I have over 12 years of teaching experience, and I have a master's degree in Linguistics from Leiden University, with a specialisation in English Linguistics. I am trained in speech analysis software, which is a highly effective (and fun!) tool that helps learners not only hear but also visualise their mistakes.

I speak Finnish (my mum's side is from Finland), Mandarin Chinese (I lived in Taiwan for six years) and French (because I love the sound of it). I also know smatterings of other languages like Dutch, Spanish and Japanese.
