About Me
As a philosopher, journalist and curator (in the broadest sense of the word) I cherish a natural interest in people and their worlds. Teaching gives me the opportunity to involve myself with one of yours, while I share some of mine. I hope I can offer you your very own interpretation of the inspiring tools that where handed to me by the many thinkers that I have studied over the years. Heidegger, Kant, Derrida, Foucault, Benjamin, Bell Hooks, Donna Harraway, Bruno Latour are just a few of the many that I have familiarize myself with. I am curious to find out what inspires you!
Education
As a philosopher and cultural scientist (Field: Art, Culture & Politics) I owe a great deal to the University of Amsterdam, teachers as well as fellow students and researchers. For my career as a journalist and editor I have to give credit to many other mentors. Not just at the Hogeschool voor Journalistiek / School of Journalism Utrecht, but foremost in all the practices that followed it: Novum News Press Agency, RTL Nieuws, etc.
Experience / Qualifications
Like every philosopher I am fascinated by language. To make my sentences move along with all the twists and turns I have taken so far, I have followed many courses, expanding my skills for screenwriting, podcasts and many other exiting things, like my ecological fieldwork, in which I study bats. Teaching turned out to be a second nature, when I started helping out friends during covid19.

As a creative copy professional and philosopher, I see every lesson as an experiment. To keep us both on the edge of our seats, I continuously explore new ways of teaching that fit your specific needs. Feel tempted? Book your first lesson and get one extra!

Doubts? Dutch might feel a little violent to a delicate mouth in the beginning. But once you get passed that, a sea of inspiring and quirky new ways to express yourself will open up. To help you move beyond that hump, I will adjust my lessons to your personal passions and interests, including your specific reasons to speak and/or write in this language right now.

Two kids that are roughly the same level can share one webcam lesson of one-hour minimum. Keep in mind that we will stay online for at least 15 minutes extra, as young ones will need at least two 5 minute breaks.

Whether it concerns your homework or the emails, letters and speeches at work. When you write and speak clearly and fluently, you get more done. A few webcam lessons can make all the difference. You feel more confident, which makes speaking and writing fun again. Try a lesson! Then we will see where your pain points are and whether my way of teaching appeals to you.

Vincent Van Gogh once said something to the effect that greatness is a series of little things coming together, Emile Durkheim the great French sociologist first 'coined', "the whole is more than the sum of its parts" and Montesquieu conceived of laws in relation to climate.

What do all of these have to do with each other? The fact that the interpretation and understanding of one of the realms of socio-political knowledge is not enough to either understand that single discipline of study whether it be Law, History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology or Philosophy- you cannot separate any from the whole and be able to understand the Short, Nasty,BrutishTM nature that reality is and that conditions human life.

While my studies and work have nigh been exclusively related to Law, my interests which pushed me there were/are seemingly very different. Through my experience I may humbly submit that the the perspectives that each discipline approaches problems with are crucial in solving very distinct "linguistic" problems within their specific paradigms. They however are victims of dogma as is academia in general it would be fair to say. Living in the times we do, it is not only necessary as a basic informational issue but as an issue of responsible citizenry, young adults must be well educated about the political economy.

Whether you're looking to study and/or are currently studying and/or want to learn about any of the aforementioned subjects whether in conjunction with current coursework and/or assignments, or if you're just interested and would like to learn about a specific period in time, this is for you.
