Music is a worldwide language. It also makes you feel many different emotions.

I teach singing, piano, cello as well as music theory and composition. At the moment, all lessons are done online via a webcam but hopefully, soon we can go back to normal, in-person lessons.

I do speak German but for teaching, I will speak English as this is my mother tongue and I can communicate myself clearly.

My name is Phillip. I'm a music teacher from England and now living in Munich.

I have been playing music since I was 8 years old and have grown up learning to understand and love music. It is easy for me to say that music is my life.

I have been teaching for teaching singing, piano and cello for 10 years now and come with a wealth of experience and qualifications. I also trained as a school music teacher so can offer extra support or tuition for students taking school music exams.

As a singer, my voice is extremely versatile and I feel comfortable teaching in many different styles from Classical and Musical Theatre to Pop genres.

In our Oud class, I will guide you through everything from basic to advanced techniques. We will cover playing for all levels, correct left-hand use, synchronizing with the right hand, handling the pick, tuning the Oud, and effectively using a tuner and metronome. In the remaining time, we will dive into reading musical notes, starting with basic Solfege and progressing to advanced and oriental Solfege, including dictation exercises. This comprehensive approach ensures a well-rounded musical journey

My recommendation for learning the Oud is to begin by studying musical notes and notation before delving into songs. While some students prefer to jump straight into playing songs, understanding the fundamentals of music notation accelerates progress in the long run. Dedication and hard work can yield significant progress within a year, enabling you to play simple tunes.
