Hi! I'm a violinist currently finishing a Master's in Music at Royal Conservatory in Ghent. I started playing violin at the age of 6, and studying with numerous professors made me realize how important an individualized pedagogical approach is for good development. My aim is to motivate students to be creative and enjoy playing music, helping them express their own ideas. A relaxed and natural technique is always one of my focuses, to avoid future injuries and to find ease while playing that will allow you to explore your musicality and feel free.

A little about myself:
I started playing guitar and studying music when I was eight years old. Starting in Spanish classical guitar, I quickly found my way to electric guitar and harder music.
This is how I came into contact with many genres and the theory behind them.
During your hour we can learn to play your favorite music together or delve deeper into the theory of making a suitable solo on a piece of music. This way, after the lessons, you can get started with the new methods and experiment yourself.

Have you always wanted to learn to play drums, but didn't know where to start? Or do you already have several years of experience, but are you no longer able to make progress? Then you've come to the right place!
We start from your own interests (or needs to start your own learning trajectory together) and discover where your strengths and weaknesses lie to work on it together. Whether you want to learn about rock, pop, funk, jazz, metal, reggae, latin, r&b, blues, ... everything is possible!

I graduated from the conservatory of Ghent and also have several years of experience teaching in different music schools. I also have a lot of experience as a performing musician with various bands including John Ghost, Elias D'Hooge Trio, Kin Gajo and Olga Jane.

In addition to giving drum lessons, I can also teach you about (advanced) music theory and teach you my secrets to improve your musical hearing.

Clarinet lessons at all levels: from absolute beginners to advanced players.
For me as a teacher it is very important to start from the wishes, needs and competences of the student himself.
You can follow lessons via webcam, or at your home near the Ghent - Kortrijk region.
If you don't have an instrument available, you can rent one from me. This offer is limited, so please inquire if you're interested.

Today - after completing an extensive selection procedure - Laurens is professionally active as a clarinetist with the Royal Marine Band, one of the prestigious orchestras of the Belgian army.

In addition to his education at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, Laurens has had the opportunity to learn several times in a number of masterclasses by, among others, Arno Piters (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Davide Lattuada (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Bart de Karter (New Amsterdam Clarinet Quartet), Pascal Moragues (Orchester de Paris), Ricardo Mataredonna (The La Monnaie Theatre), David Van Maele (Royal Music Chapel of the Guides), Bart Watté (Royal Music Chapel of the Guides) etc.

Both as a freelancer and an active member, Laurens has played in various orchestras, such as the Royal Band of the Belgian Air Force, Frascati Symphonic, the Euregio Youth Orchestra, the Mahler Student Festival Orchestra, La Chapelle Sauvage, Flanders Young Symphony Orchestra, the Ghent University Symphony Orchestra, the Ghent University Harmony Orchestra...

Since 2021, Laurens has been a member of the Meraki Wind Quintet, with which he has already successfully participated in a number of competitions, including the IMC International Music Competition 2023 (1er Prix à l'unanimité), the Euterpe Music Awards 2022 (gold prize), the Classic Pure Vienna International Music Competition 2022 (special mention), and the Fanny Mendelssohn International Online Competition 2022/23 (second prize).

In addition, Laurens is also active as a conductor, both in a symphonic and harmonic orchestra. He takes conducting lessons with Kristiina Posska (chief conductor of Flanders Symphony Orchestra), Bart Picqueur (composer and conductor) and Dimitri Bracke (conductor) and is active as a permanent conductor with the Fantasietjes in the Muziekvereniging Bellegem and freelance with various other associations.

I’ve been studying classical Piano since I was 9 years old,
At the age of 16 I was accepted in the Exceptional Young Talent program at the Vienna Konservatorium Budapest, after studying for 4 years and finishing the program, I moved to Belgium and I obtained my Bachelor at Royal Conservatory of Ghent and I’m pursuing my career here ever since, I have won International Piano Competitions, I have played solo concerts in Paris, Poland, Budapest, Vienna, Mallorca.
I teach with different methods depending the person’s age, and personality.

Customized lessons:
Teaching beginning children, beginning adults, or experienced students are completely different experiences that require completely different methods.

A constant focus in all cases is to ensure that students learn notation and music reading, which gives them some independence.

As a first step, I create a plan together with the student, depending on his or her personal goals, and supplement this with musical pieces that I think will complement the learning path.

I am available for online classes from August and at home from September 15, but I will not close schedules until the beginning of October.
