History Private Tuition by Native Speaker - A Levels and IB

I specialise in History A Level (Edexcel and AQA) and IB. I am an english native speaker with three years teaching experience in an alternative boarding school in Hampshire and work with a distinctive teaching style adapted to each student's needs and personality.
Rather than trying to cram in a bunch of facts I approach history as a curiosity: what makes it interesting? why is it relevant to our lives today? Why, indeed, do they say that history always repeats itself - is it that we can never learn from the past?
These are the kind of meta-questions that will run through our classes most of which will be discussion based and will include homework, short exercises, co-marking and assignment of additional readings to complement your syllabus.

I am an open, multicultural person who thrives on social encounters and intellectual discussion. I was trained in an alternative pedagogical method which focuses on cultivating autonomy in the student in an environment free of fear. As such, trust and respect between the student and the teacher is of vital importance if learning is to occur.

Having worked in an alternative school, my approach is very much based on each student's understanding and ways of learning. Instead of imposing a specific method on the student, I try to understand how they work, how they understand the subject and what the university or school requires of them, and help them improve in the necessary areas.
