Learning to play the piano is incredibly fun! You'll learn something most people can't do, but would love to learn. You'll learn to read music, tap rhythm, use both hands simultaneously, play loudly and softly, recognize chords, and much more. Playing the piano is a true art, but almost anyone can learn it! With regular practice, you'll surprise yourself. We start with a solid foundation, such as proper posture, hand position, reading music, and playing in tempo. For advanced students, the focus is on articulation, dynamics, phrasing, and how to play in a classical or popular style. My lessons emphasize rhythm and expression. It's not about being able to play something incredibly fast, but about being able to play a piano piece with feeling and in the right rhythm. I'm now 41 and have been playing piano since I was 8. I started with simple pieces and took lessons from various teachers, including Sherry van Baaren. In Enschede, I studied with the Russian pianist Mikhail Markov for the correct interpretation of classical music such as Mozart sonatas and romantic pieces. All of this has led me to now teach piano myself and also to write my own piano method. I work as a teacher at an international primary school in the Netherlands and am used to working with children aged 3-12.
