Cognitive Psychology - The psychological processes which pin human behaviours. Includes: Cognitive and Social Approaches, Social categorisation. This explains the behavioural patterns influencing compliance and "fitting in." We will look at a few key studies psychologists have undertaken to further understand behaviour patterns regarding compliance. Applications of key studies - Using the G.R.A.V.E.S technique (will be explained in class), how informative is the study and can it be applied to different ages, ethnicities etc. Schemas - (to be taught.) How are schemas created using stereotypes? Schemas related to phobias, re-training the brain using schemas. Don't worry, I won't be re-training your brain, we will look at key studies regarding it. Why choose my class? I do not issue mandatory homework. I will suggest tasks you can complete (no essays) which will help further concrete the lesson in your memory, but if you understand the lesson then it is perfectly acceptable to not do the "homework."
