Biology is all around us and is what our world is created from. In my class, students will ecplore the diverse world of biology, including plants, animals, cellular biology and marine biology. Students will actively participate through problem-solving, discussions, and hands-on activitirs. My teaching styles will be tailored to accomidate the different levels and abilities students may have. We will use learning tools such as videos, visual aids, games and real-woorld examples.

By the end of my teaching, students will have the ability to approach biology in creative ways, using both logic and critical-thinging to find solutions

Présentation
As an enthusiastic and dedicated tutor, I bring a strong academic background, a passion for creative teaching, and a wealth of experience in supporting students to achieve their full potential. I am currently a student at Imperial College London, one of the world’s leading universities, where I continue to build on the academic excellence I demonstrated throughout my IGCSEs and A-levels, particularly excelling in Mathematics, Biology, Geography, French, Art, Chemistry, and English.

I have hands-on experience facilitating peer learning as a PASS (Peer Assisted Study Sessions) Leader, where I guided younger students through challenging course material. In this role, I developed strong communication and leadership skills, helping students grasp difficult concepts while fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment. I also have experience working with much younger children (Ages 5-10) as a volunteer at my local church, where I gained experience in various activities, improving my ability to create a nurturing and interactive space for learning, especially for younger students

I use creative teaching methods and digital learning tools like Kahoot and Quizlet to bring lessons to life, whether it’s reinforcing core concepts, practicing exam techniques, or exploring new ideas. I tailor lessons to the unique learning style and pace of each student and I am committed to nurtuting not just academic skills, but also critical thinking, problem-solving, and a groeth mindset.
Education
I completed my degreee at the Univeristy of Manchester from 2021-2024, where I received a BSc in Genetics. I am currently a student at Imperial College London where I am completing my MSc in Genomic Medicine.
Expérience / Qualifications
In my final year of university I was a PASS Leader. This role included tutoring other university students in their biology related degrees and also giving them advice about life on campus. I have also volunteered at my church during Vacation Bible School where I was a leader for children between the age of 5-10.

For the past 7 years, I have tutored 80+ IB Biology and Chemistry students online up to date, and hundreds of students face-to-face. They have all achieved top grades (levels 6 and 7 only), and many of my tutees have gone on to study Medicine, Dentistry and Natural Sciences at top universities in the world (University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, UCL, Imperial College, King's College...).

I, myself, have studied Master of Pharmacy at UCL (MPharm) and Graduate Medicine at University of Cambridge (MB BChir).

For every exam period, I take up approximately 10 students to teach online. Every student that I tutored from last year's batch (May 2019 exam) received 7s (from Bio and Chem when I tutored them the subject). I teach students in groups of 2 or 3s at my house in London. Moreover, I also teach crash courses of IB Biology and IB Chemistry before the final exams in April time.

If you're interested in normal tutoring lessons, I will help you understand any IB Chemistry or Biology concepts in an easy manner. I have taught the International Baccalaureate Chemistry and Biology programmes for 7 years, and am aware of the ins and outs of the curriculum.

If you're interested in assistance and support in writing Internal Assessments or Extended Essay for Chemistry and/or Biology, I can help you achieve top marks - all the students I helped received 7s.

With the vast amount of resources, past papers and experience that I have accumulated, I'm looking forward to helping you achieve a 7 (or at least a 6!). Anyone can do it with the right guidance.

In the IGCSE and CIE (Cambridge International Education)curricula, Genetics is a part of Biology under the broader topics of inheritance and variation. It is covered in both IGCSE Biologyand AS/A Level Biology. Below is a breakdown of what you can expect in each:

IGCSE Biology (Cambridge - 0610/0970)
The topic of genetics is introduced under the following key areas:

1. Variation and Inheritance
- Genetic variation: Understanding differences caused by genetic and environmental factors.
- Inheritance:
- Definition of key terms: genes, alleles, dominant, recessive, homozygous, heterozygous, phenotype, genotype.
- Monohybrid inheritance (using Punnett squares to predict offspring ratios).
- Concepts of dominant and recessive traits.
- Structure of DNA:
- Basic structure of DNA (double helix) and its role in carrying genetic information.
- Mutations:
- Causes (e.g., radiation, chemicals) and effects of mutations on organisms.

2. Selective Breeding and Genetic Engineering (basic concepts):
- Selective breeding in animals and plants to produce desired traits.
- Introduction to genetic modification (GM), though details are limited in IGCSE.

---

CIE AS and A Level Biology (9700)
At the A Level, genetics is covered in greater depth. Key concepts include:

1. DNA and Protein Synthesis:
- Structure of DNA, RNA, and nucleotides.
- Transcription, translation, and protein synthesis.
- Genetic code and its universal nature.

2. Cell Division:
- Mitosis and meiosis.
- Significance of meiosis in genetic variation (crossing over, independent assortment).

3. Inheritance:
- Mendelian genetics: monohybrid and dihybrid crosses.
- Codominance and multiple alleles.
- Sex-linked inheritance (e.g., haemophilia, color blindness).
- Pedigree analysis.

4. Gene Technology:
- Recombinant DNA technology (genetic modification and cloning).
- Applications of genetic engineering in medicine and agriculture.

5. Mutations:
- Gene mutations and their effects.
- Chromosomal abnormalities.

6. Variation and Selection:
- Natural selection and evolution.
- Role of genetic variation in populations.

---
Summary
- At the IGCSE level, genetics focuses on basic concepts of inheritance, variation, DNA structure, and simple Punnett square problems.
- At the AS/A Level, the depth increases significantly, introducing advanced topics like meiosis, protein synthesis, genetic engineering, and natural selection.
