I am a singer-songwriter, instrumentalist, graduate of Berklee College of Music (BM), and a lifetime student of traditional music. I have been teaching music for 6 years, and I am passionate about fostering a love for music in my students instead of simply teaching by rote. A lot of teachers focus excessively on the instrument being taught, instead of focusing on the music. An instrument is a tool for expressing music, and while a good technique is important, the real goal is learning how to apply the technique to express yourself. I tailor to my students’ individual tastes, using the music they love to teach them how to use the instrument. At Berklee, I gained a strong knowledge of jazz harmony and was introduced to many music styles from around the world. I can teach Bluegrass, New Acoustic Music, Celtic Music, Folk Songs, Jazz, Jazz Manouche, Blues, Pop, and Rock. In addition, I can use my songwriting expertise to help critique and develop your original music.
