I am a piano teacher with 30 years' experience of teaching both adults and children, taking them through grades if required or facilitating their development as musicians for their own pleasure. I offer students classical, blues and pop/rock pieces to spark their interest in a range of music and help them to discover what really fires their enthusiasm. Since the pandemic began I have been teaching online and am equally ok with that now as face-to-face. I also have taught guitar in the past to pupils already learning piano with me and am able to offer tuition in acoustic guitar for learning songs in various playing styles. I also teach music theory. My approach is one of helping students to develop a musical sensibility and have a rewarding and creative experience as they explore their taste and strengths in music. I know through my years of teaching that the spark can sometimes be immediate and at other times take a while to happen and I offer the support that hopefully will facilitate this whether it be early or later. I offer patience and sensitivity to each pupil's progress in the hope that they enjoy the process as an enhancement in their life and development.
