English is my passion and I am currently in the second year of the study English language and culture at Utrecht University. I would like to help you in any area. Reading is always a big part (also for the final exam). But maybe you have a hard time during speaking tests ... In short, together we make a planning and make sure you feel comfortable enough to use the English language.

About Me

I like to help others and especially with children I have a lot of experience in giving tutoring and reading lessons. I would like to share my passion for certain (school) subjects. I am particularly interested in languages and history.

Education

Vwo school diploma and 2nd year student of English language and culture at Utrecht University. For the rest, my hobby included a summer school at the UvA. At the moment I also often take care of different families with different nationalities, so that I have a lot of social skills and can adapt well to my pupil.

Hello parents! My name is Sandra. I am a native English speaker from New York State. I have a USA teaching license and a Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Inclusive Education (Grades K-6 and Students with Disabilities) from the State University of New York at Fredonia. My experiences include teaching at primary international schools in Belgrade, Serbia for 2 years and 3 years at international schools in The Hague, Netherlands. Lessons are provided to children and teenagers. Lessons are customized to the learning needs of your child. Whether that be learning English for the first time or practicing improvement of speaking, reading, comprehension, pronunciation, listening, writing, grammar, etc. Lessons can be aimed towards learning a topic such as food, animals, sports, emotions, and more.

For children who are fluent English speakers, tutoring can be given to further excel in particular areas. Subjects that interest the student such as science, history or world topics can be incorporated into the lesson to broaden their knowledge. Support can also be provided in learning organizational skills, research, and mini projects for older children. I am available to help with studying, homework, or school projects. For online learning, I use a variety of platforms, websites, educational games, and e-books to reach the learning goals of my students. Additional homework can be provided if requested.

Do you have troubles with homework/school or just understanding basic concepts? Or your kids need some extra training to be the best of the best?
I would love to be of help. In my online classes, we have discussions and watch videos to figure out what exactly is the missing link to supreme confidence in the subject. And ofcourse, solving problems is taken seriously to gain mastery.
Usually my classes are in advance of what is going on in school. This helps the student be prepared in advance for the class. Normal routine can also be followed on the other hand.

I like using the CLT methond during my lessons. I have been teaching in a Gymnasium as an intern for the past 3 years and this method is the one that works best. I really like practicing the language in useful ways that the students can later on use in their daily lives.
I would provide the material for the lessons (no need for a book). I would create or print material when needed. I would also bring my laptop if something needs to be shown. It is handy for the student to have a notebook to keep track of all the work during the lessons.
