Music Theory helps you understand the undercurrents of all Western music and gives you the ability to analyse, create and enjoy music in more versatile and deep way.

I'm a graduated musician (Helsinki Pop & Jazz Conservatory) and musicologist (MA, University of Helsinki) and I teach Western classical and jazz theory.

Students from beginners to advanced are welcome! My classes are customised for each student based on their skill level and expected outcome. Theory lessons can be shaped to support composing/arranging or practicing an instrument. Classes can also be taught using Logic Pro, while enjoying the additional bonus of learning to use one of the most renowned DAW's.

My personal approach to music theory is holistic, so with me you will be able to go deeper into music theory than just learning the rules by heart.

I also teach electric bass!

Bring your own laptop/tablet, and bring your own instrument if you want. I have a piano, acoustic guitar and electric bass at my home.

"A good teacher can make an impact, that lasts throughout one's life."

This is my philosophy and I aim to constantly follow it. To me teaching is more than just handing out material: it's making the learning process interesting and enjoyable so that the learning almost happens by itself.

I am curious in all aspects of music, and this approach is present also in my classes. Music theory, a technique or a song do not exist in vacuum but always has their context. Understanding the context of each new skill is important to let the students grow into self-reliant and courageous musicians.

The course focus on concepts that will make any student of any level developing their own approach to improvisation. It can be designed depending on the instrument played by student and his/her atttude.

How to improvise by Al Crook ed Advance Music, for horn players,
This book describes a nice way of approaching improvisation through specific exercises that can be tested on students of any kind of level. It divides in 4 section and requires a minimum knowledge of scales, chords and familiarity with musical vocabulary

Hearing the Changes by jerry Cooker, Bob knapp, Larry Vincent, ed advance Music, for all musicians

With this book the student will learn how to recognize progressions by ear thanks on a selection of jazz tunes chosen from the standard repertoire. It will be taught at the piano and it will let students of any level to deal with harmony and theory progressively but starting codifying harmonic traits that will clarify the reader's understanding of how progressions and improvisation "work".

I have teaching experience for all ages, from beginners to advanced who want to improve. For beginner, I use the Suzuki method.

Cancelation policy of Apprentus: [teachers are entitled to 50% of the tuition fee if a student cancels a class within 24 hours of the agreed-upon time. If the student does not attend the class without any prior notice, teachers have the right to claim 100% of the tuition fee.]

Piano lessons for all levels taught by an experienced musician and teacher.

I have a background in jazz and classical music with a bachelors in jazz piano performance from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and a masters in music from Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium København. I have also studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris.

Over the years I have built a large class of students of all levels and created unique and personalised lesson plans for each individual depending on their interests and musical tastes.

Whether you're starting piano for the first time or you're getting ready to audition for a music degree, I look forward to working with you to meet your goals.
