I became a TEFL English Teacher back in 2008. After 12 years of teaching all levels and all sorts of groups, I've become very aware of what works and what doesn't... Trying to learn English grammar rules before being able to understand the language, it will always be hard work for the learner and also very frustrating. No matter what country you are born into, first, you learn how to speak and then you learn the rules. Acquiring additional languages should not be any different.
I am sure you have spent a long time learning English but, how many times have you had the chance to simply see how well you would do through a normal English conversation as you would do with a friend? Not many right?...
My coaching sessions are designed to constantly generate conversation between you and me. We will talk about everything and anything. I will catch those little mistakes you will make here and there. We will fix them on the spot through mental gymnastics, pills of wisdom, reminders, and everything else I have in store for you. You will do most of the talking. Good teachers are the ones that let their students speak, don't forget that.
Your confidence, your fluency, and your accuracy will forcefully improve with time. I will make sure I introduce to you (in due time) verbs, expressions, and vocabulary essential to your everyday English. A Win-Win!
If you are up for the challenge please make sure you have at least a low intermediate level to be able to follow a simple conversation. If your level is lower than that, you will have to be very patient with yourself and conversations could be slower at the beginning.
I am super patient, a great listener, and I have a passion for English. I will be more for you than just an English teacher. I will guide you, encourage you, and basically offer you that "safe pool" where you can polish your speaking skills in a safe, private, cool environment to let yourself speak without worries :)

De hecho, para facilitar al máximo tu practica diaria de Ingles, también nuestras sesiones podrán ser por teléfono. Bien de camino a casa o al trabajo, en tus ratos de descanso e incluso en los de aburrimiento. Se trata de que puedas simplemente hablar en Ingles siempre que puedas e ir mejorando.
Una de las tareas mas difíciles a la hora de hablar un segundo o tercer idioma es el teléfono. Si eres capaz de desenvolverte en el idioma sin ayuda de la parte visual de tu interlocutor, podrás enfrentarte a cualquier conversación en persona. La practica hace la perfección y "the more you talk, the better you will speak" y eso es innegable...

Hola, soy Maia. Me preparé como profesora de Ingles con los mejores y obtuve mi certificado TEFL (Teaching English as a foreign language) en Dublin, Mayo de 2008. Me convertí en profesora porque realmente tenia muchas ganas de ayudar a otros a hablar este idioma y ayudarles a hablarlo bien.
La frustración con el método tradicional de aprendizaje de idiomas (el cual yo personalmente también he sufrido) ha sido el catalizador de este programa. Somos muchos los que estamos cansados de tener que aprender las reglas de un idioma sin saber siquiera como hablarlo (actualmente aprendo Francés y me ocurre lo mismo). Entender un Present Perfect o el Past continuous en Inglés cuando te cuesta hablar de cosas básicas se vuelve misión imposible y uno queda desalmado porque piensa que es nulo para los idiomas. La realidad es que cuando eras pequeño aprendiste a hablar sin necesidad de saber que era el Pretérito Pluscuamperfecto. Aprendiste a base de “trial and error”. Mama o papa o la profe dulcemente corregían o repetían correctamente aquello que estaba incorrecto como; mama he rompido la puerta. Mientras aprendías español, no necesitaste de explicaciones sobre como hablabas o en que tiempo lo hacías... simplemente lo hablabas. Hay que dejar de intentar inventar la rueda. Es hora de volver a aprender a hablar como se viene haciendo desde el principio de los tiempos.
Eso es lo que quiero demostrarte en estas sesiones. No necesitas de explicaciones metafísicas para hablar bien Ingles. Si, la gramática es necesaria pero no tiene porque ser un tostón y el vocabulario puede ser aprendido de manera amena y divertida a través de la practica real del mismo, igual que las reglas gramaticales.
Necesitas tres cosas para hablar Inglés y juntos nos encargaremos de cada una de ellas pero a través de la practica real del idioma donde tú seras el principal protagonista.
