Si l’on veut traduire fidèlement sa pensée en Anglais comme dans n’importe quelle autre langue, la maîtrise de l’emploi du temps « tenses »est primordiale. Il permet de donner le contexte temporel dans lequel on désire situer nos propos.
In English there is a number of tenses, each of which is used in a particular context.
For the purpose of this course we will present the tenses that can be encountered in everyday English through a completely original organization facilitating understanding without going into the instructions.
We can group English tenses into three groups for effective learning:
- simple tenses
- The so-called compound tenses
- The so-called superimposed tenses
I) THE SIMPLE TENSES
- present simple
- Past simple or preterit
- Future simple
- Conditional simple or present conditional
II) THE COMPOUND TENSES
They fall into two categories:
The tenses of the PERFECT and the tenses of the CONTINOUS
A) The tenses of the perfect
-present perfect
-Conditional perfect or past perfect
B) the tenses of the continous
- Present continuous
- Past continuous
- Future progressive
- Conditional progressive
III) THE SURIMPOSED TENSES
we have :
- Present perfect continuous
- Past perfect continuous.
All of these tenses are used in a context and purpose that the mastering is important.
Thus presented, we can now wonder about the instructions for use.
