Salvē, my name is Carlotta and I have 7 years of experience in tutoring. Nowadays these continue online, which in my experience does not reduce the quality or results in any way. Since April 2022, I have been taking Latin language acquisition courses at Schola Latīna, an Italian private school that uses the comprehensible input (CI) method. This means that all lessons are taught exclusively in the target language, allowing me to not only translate Latin, but also speak and write it. Since no Flemish school expects active language skills, I will of course not do this unsolicited during lessons ;) In practice the same problems always return: difficulties with translation, difficulties with memorization of sequences and vocabulary, lack of motivation or fun. When such a fantastic profession is experienced as difficult, it is only logical that motivation also drops. Whatever the problem, Latin itself is a perfectly feasible subject. I also tutored mathematics and noticed that students only have fun when they are no longer struggling, which is what we are working towards :) My goal is to be less needed as quickly as possible by learning and practicing strategies.
