About Me

I like to teach math which is the the subject I like and have experience teaching in for more than 15 years. As a teacher, I am calm, patient and when the mentee needs more explanation I try to explain the ideas in more ways than one.
I have also experience teaching the Arabic language.
I have taught Microsoft Project program which is used for planning and controlling projects, so I like to teach it to my mentees.

I am fifty-five years old mother living in Uppsala. I am flexible with my time and can reasonably adjust my times to the mentee. I would like to hear the mentees various opinions and wishes and incorporate those into my tutoring and mentoring.

Education

University of Technology Baghdad Iraq. PHD in projects engineering management.
I studied engineering education at the university of Technology Baghdad for four years and then after worked in it. I worked and studied at the same time, continued studying MSc (two years) and PhD (three years) in projects engineering management.
I spent a wonderful time teaching but the bad situation there in Iraq forced me and all my family to move to Sweden and it allowed for the continuation of my children's teaching in calm and better environment.
At the University of technology I taught math, planning and economy, quality control and Microsoft Program for planning and controlling projects.

Education: I hold a PhD in Physics and Applied Mathematics from the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. Focus of my project was modeling and understanding the glacial cycles using mathematical models. During my PhD, I have collaborated with researchers in Applied Mathematics from different research groups in Europe.

I also hold a Bachelor and Master's degrees in Physics. I graduated full marks with honours in Physics from La Sapienza, University of Rome.

Work & teaching experience: Since my university studies, I have been working or volunteering as a Math and Physics tutor, helping mostly high schools and college students. During my PhD at Copenhagen University, I was teaching assistant in 3 Full Master's Degree courses. I also worked as a high school math teacher. Other work experience include content creation (Physics explanations) and research.

What I have learnt from my experience as a tutor:
I believe it is only when you are able to explain difficult concepts in a clear and simple way, that you can consider yourself a good teacher! I did not have a good math teacher when I was in high school. I recall almost hating doing my Math homework! Luckily, after taking a few math classes with a really good tutor, I changed my mind completely. And here I am :-)

Class description: depending on the student's background and preferences, I usually prepare some material (theory, exercises, examples, etc...) that the student can use to strengthen their skills. I am also available outside the class for homework and support.

I have worked as a Mathematics teacher, British Curriculum, grade 7 and 8. Also I have taught business and marketing programmes at undergraduate level as well as International Associate Diploma programme in Business. I also conducted several training programmes in Business communication, English communication as well as English grammers at a trainning center, Cambridge Trainning Center in Sudan. My goal is to engage students with differentiated learning approach. Additionally, I keep students challenged, but not overhelmed. I assign homework after every lesson and provide regular feedback and periodic progress report.

About my teaching method, I will focus on helping you solving your problem. Your understanding is my main target. It is meaningless if I teach too much and you do not understand anything. I will pay much attention on listening to you, what your problem is and will solve it.

Hello!

I am a graduate IB high school student from Sweden. I have been a tutor for three years in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Philosophy and to some extent Art to a 16-year-old girl.
I can tutor in all those subjects as well as Japanese and English. I have no experience concerning this, but I will try my best (I have finished Japanese Genki 4).
Usually, I help my tutee when she is stuck in a problem in her worksheet/homework. I would help explain the concepts associated with the problem etc-so far so normal.
Furthermore, I find that even preparing lesson plans is fun. I find the endeavour very rewarding and wish to try it as a part-time job. For example, I love seeing the eureka moments of the students :)
I speak native Swedish and Arabic and can use that to tutor in lessons. In addition, I can tutor in them as subjects at a basic level if you so wish. For example, I can teach Swedish or English to an Arab or a Japanese person etc.
Note:
I do not have natively English-speaking parents. However, my level is basically of a native because IB is an English-based program.

Mathematics is extremely important field, thought sometimes it might be not so easy to study. I have a huge experience helping to understand Mathematics to kids and to adults. Also, I have been explaining "hidden" topics that are usually not common in school program, though they are very exiting and important!
