Chemistry lessons for university students by Oxford uni post-doc / teaching lang: English / communication in French available

I offer private lessons in Chemistry to school students following French, British, IB or American systems. Being a PhD-holder in Chemistry from Imperial College London, I also offer support to chemistry students at university level.
Classes are delivered online via Zoom.

In my classes:
- I encourage asking relevant questions and I am willing to repeat explanations as much as necessary.
- I use technological tools and web interfaces to provide visual support to verbal explanations, which I consider a key part of effective teaching.
- I share my own, tailored, class notes and encourage the student to take notes him/herself as practice.
- We solve problems and I also assign homework and correct it in the following lesson.

After my classes, I share my notes with my students to help them retain the information and revise.

About Me

I am a PhD holder in Chemistry research from Imperial College London, where I also completed my undergraduate studies (1st class Honours).
Throughout my years in secondary school and at university, I have always been driven by a thirst for understanding, which helped me break away from the understandable but restricting reluctance to ask questions, for either fear of embarrassment or of seeming geeky. As a result, I find my eagerness to share the knowledge I have gained with young students is fueled by the hope of helping these students break away from such worries, and enjoy the process of learning. Apart from the importance of creating an environment where students feel comfortable to ask when struggling to understand, I am also aware of the value of using creative yet simple analogies when explaining concepts, not just to engage students’ attention, but also to inspire them to ask questions which may go beyond the level they are at.

Education

I obtained my undergraduate (MSci; 1st class) and postgraduate (PhD) degrees from Imperial College London, after completing my French Baccalaureate with distinction.

Experience / Qualifications

My chemistry students include French Bac and IB students. I also teach Arabic and English to professionals. However, my love for and experience in teaching goes back to when I used to teach my younger sister maths and science, as well as help peer students struggling with chemistry and physics in grade 12.
During my studies at Imperial College London, I held various tutor/mentor roles which included working as a demonstrator for a workshop on some basics of coding using Python. During my PhD, I also acted as assistant supervisor for a BSc student doing her final year research project; I helped her plan some experiments, understand the data and analyse it. I also worked as mentor for students attending summer schools at Imperial College; these roles were mostly pastoral. More recently, I have worked as a private tutor in French and Chemistry for students in grades 7 and 11 at the French Lycée.

KS3/GCSE/A Level Science/Chemistry/Biology/Maths tutoring
About my tutoring: In my tutoring sessions, I will work with students to help them achieve their best grades. A typical lesson will include understanding content, mastering exam technique, and attempting and improving past exam question answers. I believe the best way to learn is in an active and engaging way, so this is how my classes will be, with lots of discussions and active recall to ensure understanding and embedding of knowledge and skill is maximised. About me: I am a current undergraduate student studying biology and chemistry at Cambridge University, so I understand the difficulty and pressure of exams and want to help students prepare and take away some of that worry and stress. I truly understand the best ways to prepare and revise for GCSEs and A Levels, and have straight grade 9s and A*s to prove this. I have approximately one year's experience in tutoring, so am equipped to help students achieve their best.

Private lessons and tips in mathematics and physics-chemistry
Hello, Previously a double degree student in computer science and mathematics at Sorbonne Paris Nord University (formerly Paris 13). Student in applied mathematics engineering at ENSTA PARIS and ENSAE PARIS in double degree I can give tutoring in mathematics so that in physics and chemistry, the main advantage of my classes is that they contain tips that improve the student's response to an exercise, a very good course that aims the essential without forgetting the important details, and a follow-up of the evolution of the student through the tests of progression and exercises since the exercises of application until the starry exercises. Apart from my good teaching approach, I have great skills in mathematics and physics chemistry besides I am the first dz my class in mathematics in double license. Through my private lessons I want not only to transmit my knowledge, but also the good methods and reflexes before tests or exercises. Cordially.

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry - College - how to go about it.
I teach mathematics, physics and chemistry from elementary to high school: I put much more emphasis on methodology and confidence building. This makes it easier for students to approach the material. I support students throughout the year with personalized follow-up for each student: methodology, exam preparation, optimization and time management. Homework help, revisions, preparation of revision sheets, exam corrections, personalized advice. Depending on the level, the difficulties and the needs of my students, I set up a program to assess their progress. Some need more lessons to consolidate the basics while others master the course and they need more practice exercises. Once the students have mastered the course and the application exercises, we work through specific tests, self-confidence and time management, making it easier to tackle exams in class. I have students who were below average and who became good at it; others who were good but lacked confidence and subsequently became excellent. I am available immediately for regular or punctual courses.

Maths, Chemistry and Biology for any level up to GCSE or Equivalent
I believe that it is important that each session is tailored to the individual. Sessions will begin with a brief introduction to the topic and a task which will allow me to gauge the current working level and to establish strengths and weaknesses in the area. My experience as a tutor allows me to make quick, informed decisions about how to adapt the session in order to achieve maximum progress. I always make sure that I have read and understood the relevant exam board specification to ensure that I deliver the information and skills required for exam success. I strongly feel that engagement, encouragement and enjoyment are essential for acquiring, understanding and retaining new skills and knowledge. Therefore, my sessions will be interactive and include progressive tasks allowing application and practice. I try to make my tutees comfortable in my sessions through reassurance and communication, with us both asking questions throughout the session - I am ready to explain things in different ways until it is understood!

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry (graduated from ENS Lyon / Mines Paris and soon ENS Cachan)
After taking preparatory classes at the Lycée Henri IV (Paris) in the PCSI-PC * stream, I joined the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon. I teach Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from the second to the first year of preparation. Out of habit, I first focus this tutoring on a perfect mastery of the course then on the resolution of "standard" exercises, classic allowing to re-use as well as possible the concepts approached in the course.

Julien
Student in engineering school (Télécom Paris, 2nd engineering school in France), teaches maths and physics from middle school to high school in Paris
Hello, I am a student in engineering school at Télécom Paris (2nd engineering school according to the student's classification). I study mathematics, computer science and physics there. I was a student in preparatory class for two years at the Lycée Louis-Le-Grand in Paris (PSI *). I did part of my college and high school at the Lycée Français de New York, so I speak fluent English. In preparation, I was able to develop new methods of effective working methods, learn rigor in my work and strengthen my curiosity. I therefore take care to pass this experience on to my students to ensure their success. I always adapt my course and my advice to the student's profile to give him confidence while challenging him. I structure my lessons in three parts: - proofreading and verification of the understanding of the course to be worked on. I know from experience that a good mastery of the course is essential for success - simple exercises and direct applications of the course to put the course into practice. Pupils have often learned their course but find it difficult to apply it in practice. - more complex exercises requiring reflection, a student's approach and closer to their questions and DS I then give exercises to do independently of increasing difficulty to find the student's shortcomings and to put him in test condition.
