About Me

I consider my self a music student always aiming to improve my playing developing a personal musical language.I also consider the bass guitar mostly as a "tool with strings", there in order to express my self, so I´m always researching new ways to transcend it while never forgetting what is the role of the bass inside an ensemble.I believe the shapeshifting betweens this two things is the best way to develop a personal unique voice
Considered as one of the most interesting and innovative bass players of the new generation and ex pupil of bass gurus Matthew Garrison and Dominique Di Piazza, Roberto started soon to gain attention in Italy after winning for 2 years in a row the “Italian Bass Contest” in 2002 and 2003 and becoming a finalist of the “European Bass Contest” in 2004.
In the year 2005 he moved to Boston to attend the Berklee College of Music where he also joined the ensemble of pianist Joanne Brackeen and formed the Jazz-Fusion band Oddflow together with Hara Garacci and Louis Cato. Oddflow released the album “Almost Even” the following year and started performing all around the east coast.
In 2007 he moved to New York and lived there till 2010, playing in the local Jazz scene and touring as well, during this years he joined the band of avant-garde pop singer and “my space” celebrity Adama, meanwhile he also started a long term musical collaboration with veteran Fusion keyboardist and producer Steve Hunt (Allan Holdsworth, Stanley Clarke, Billy Cobham) which led to Roberto ́s first solo album “Re-Evaluation Time”, published in 2010 under Steve´s reord label “Spice Rack” and featuring Marty Richards and Pablo De Biasi on drums and Steve on keys.
Re-Evaluation Time gained worldwide recognition, being top seller on the Jazz-Fusion online shop “Abstract Logix” it also entered the “top five” in many jazz-oriented music radio charts. In 2010 Roberto moved back to Europe and started establishing himself as a bass player in Berlin, where he´s currently living.
In the following years Roberto started many musical collaboration like the “Silent Jazz Ensemble”, “Reiner Hess Raumshiff jazz”, “Aly Keyta trio” and leading his own trio with Bjössi Klütsch and Marko Djordjevic on drums.
In 2016 he published the debut album of the Band “Beyond Turbines” together with Steve Hunt, Bjössi Klütsch and featuring Virgil Donati on drums.
In 2017 he published his second solo album “Lapse Of Worry” with Seamus Blake on sax, Marko Djordjevic on drums and Bjössi Klütsch on guitar.
In 2018 Roberto played on the Album “Nuova Napoli” by Nu Guinea, he also co-composed the hit song “Disco Sole”.
The album is at the moment a top seller, and with Nu Guinea Roberto toured all around Europe and even Brazil for all the course of 2019.
Roberto musical collaborations brought him to perform all around the world, often with one of his signature 5 or 6 strings basses by Wood& Tronics, as well as Wood&Tronics bass guitars, Roberto is also endorsing Gr Bass amplifiers and Mama Pickups.

Music Theory, Ear-Training, and Composition Lessons in English
Whether you're looking to improve your overall musicianship as an already-seasoned musician or learn the basics, I am ready to work with you! As an active composer, performer, and music educator with a Master's Degree, I have years of teaching experience with various ages and levels. Theory topics can range from counterpoint, form and analysis, triads, harmonization, figured bass, 12-tone analysis, to introduction to note-reading, patterns, and more. We'll examine various repertoire from the Baroque through the music of today. Ear-Training instruction can include a mixture of sight-singing, rhythm exercises, melodic/harmonic dictation, chord recognition, and more. Composition lessons will be centered around developing and expanding your compositional voice, with special attention to form, theatricality, expression, and understanding of instruments. Your lessons will be designed to fit your personal level and goals! I bring 15 years of composition experience, 14 years piano study, and 13 years of intensive vocal training to my work as a theory, ear-training, and composition educator.

Philip
Guitar and Improvisation - 18 years musical experience
My name is Philip and I’m a guitarist with 18 years of experience playing Jazz, Blues, Funk, Pop and Finger-style. I have worked internationally as a bandleader, accompanist and solo performer. Now, there's a lot of music teachers out there, but the vast majority of them take the same old approach to teaching. They'll teach you scales, theory, chords - you name it. But that's all just information, and information alone does not make a great musician. This is what sets me apart as a music teacher. Instead of taking the conventional "information-based" approach to teaching, I take a much more balanced and pragmatic approach. This means that in addition to learning all kinds of information, we will also be taking a deep dive into the PRINCIPLES which underpin that information. But even more importantly, we will be learning about the MIND, BRAIN and BODY - how they relate to music and how we can harness them so as to reach our highest musical potential. My approach is informed by years of research into areas such as neuroscience, psychology, philosophy and meditation. And as a university student of philosophy and psychology, I have written extensively in these areas. This background has allowed me to develop a truly holistic approach to music, one which promises not only faster improvement, but also greater musical EASE, ENJOYMENT and CREATIVITY. Philip

Hi, I’m Andrea! I’m a professional classical guitar performer and educator from Sydney, Australia. I have been developing my music teaching business for over 9 years, through which I teach a wide range of styles, levels, and ages. Lessons are specifically tailored to meet the needs of each student, whether the focus is on classical guitar performance, chords, pop/rock, or Spanish-style fingerpicking. Music theory, composition, songwriting, improvisation, sight-reading, and preparation for high school exams or University auditions are all options that can be incorporated into lessons. I have plenty of experience with young children and teenagers as well as adults, from complete beginners to advanced players. My teaching philosophy is holistic in that I strive to help my students become well-rounded musicians with a range of listening, reading, improvisation, and analytical skills, while of course carefully choosing repertoire that will cater to the student’s taste as well as their abilities. Pop/rock guitar and jazz/blues improvisation are also options as well as classical training.

Guitar Tutoring in Berlin for all ages and abilities.
I am an experienced and enthusiastic guitar tutor from Leeds, England, living in Berlin. I have a bachelor’s degree in jazz guitar from Leeds College of Music although I also play and teach rock, pop, funk, folk and indie music. In lessons I aim to get students playing something they know as soon as possible in order to get excited about progress early on. We balance this with paying attention to proper technique and having one eye on the theory behind what we are playing to broaden your understand of how music works. I am actively engaged in playing within the music scene and have a real excitement for all types of music, whether it’s learning your first chords on guitar or working on improvisation or music theory. We'll go at the right pace for you and achieve your goals together. I have experience teaching all ages and abilities of students, having taught in primary and secondary schools as well as private tuition for adults. From complete beginners to preparing a student for their college auditions. Lessons are tailored to suit the needs of the student, in order to have lessons which push you to learn to the best of your ability whilst still being fun and musical.

Francisco
Guitar/Music/Composition Lessons in Berlin (All ages and all levels welcome!)
Hello! Alright I'll break it down by parts. If you look for a more "narrowed description" just scroll down where I made a list :) My name is Francisco, and I'm a guitar player from Argentina, currently living in Berlin. I am very enthusiastic about teaching and sharing the energy to grow musically to my students. I have taught music for 7 years in schools and privately at home. With private lessons my aim is to adjust to the student likes and abilities. I am attentive to the needs and the reasons why someone is wanting to play and learn music. And I try to encourage the curiosity and spirit of making music and not follow what is "considered" that you should learn. What to expect from the first lesson with me? To get to know each other. That way I see what you like and what you don't, what you already play, and your learning pace. And probably I can share with you something new already, and from there, we will build a "program" according to what you want and your rhythm, and time availability. I value singularity and I like to get to know who I teach, so that way I can help them better. It can be first chords and ways of learning new songs, or improvisational tools, or pure harmony and theory stuff. Because everyone is different, for example, if you like Rock I will go in that direction and teach you the elements that make Rock sound like it does and I won't teach you Jazz Harmony, if you like Classical music we will go over the abilities that you have to have to execute this kind of music, the same goes for the styles that I play. My skills: I play and have played mainly Fingerstyle Guitar, Jazz, Argentine Tango, Jazz Manouche, Rock, Rockabilly, Experimental. I have worked a lot playing Bossa Nova at some point. I don't like teaching something that I don't know. So for example, oriental music I couldn't teach. And if we come to a point where I am not helpful anymore, I will say so. What I do like is learning with students, it is often the case that your students teach you new ways of thinking about music and I find that super exciting! I was lucky to travel a bit of the world playing music with different projects and musicians that I admire, I always did this playing mainly Jazz music. I have played in bars and clubs and theaters in New York, Boston, Buenos Aires, and in different cities around Switzerland, Germany, France, Holland. I was also part of several orchestras (Jazz, Tango and Rock) in Argentina and in the US. I teach beginner - intermediate - advanced levels of different topics: - how to improve technique (right hand and left hand) - how to improvise (elements of improvisation, vocabulary, phrasing, etc.) - how to visualize the fretboard - how to learn songs by ear, and how to read music (or tab) - how harmony and music theory works - specific genres such as, Jazz, Gypsy Jazz, Bossa Nova, Tango, Rock, and Fingerstyle. The lessons can be also in German (basic, so you might need a bit of patience with me!) or Spanish (that's my mother tongue) or English. They can be at my place (Wedding), all corona safe, or online via Zoom/Skype. Shoot me a message if you are interested! All the best, Francisco

Music lessons with Madara will be fitting to those young people who are willing to either try themselves in the field of music or have decided to learn music. With Madara you will learn music in practice and in theory. Usually the lesson would integrate such components as piano playing, singing, tasks for music theory and composing (or improvising). Toby
Music Theory lessons, all levels and ages (in English or Russian)
Hi there, my name is Toby and I’m a professional music theory, violin and viola teacher based in Berlin. I teach in person both at students' location and at my location as well as online. As well as regular instrumental teaching and ensemble coaching of all age groups and levels, I’ve led numerous professional workshops, including ‘Music First’ and ‘Music Masters’ workshops in London and was an assistant on the Primary Arpeggione viola course and Springgrove music competition. I teach in English, Russian, French and German and am trained in a variety of methods, including Suzuki, regularly preparing students for music exams at all levels. I am currently a member of the European String Teachers’ Association, and have participated in ESTA conferences across Europe. I also regularly accompany students on the piano, and work on music theory, aural and sight reading skills for exams, including on grades in theory and academic exams across all stages. As a performing musician, I've played as a soloist in venues across Europe and participated in several international competitions, notably receiving the Barbirolli prize at the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition 2019. I was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra in 2018, and a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain from 2014-2015, appearing on BBC Radio 3 broadcasts and a televised BBC Prom, as well as being involved in the NYO outreach programme ‘inspire’ in schools across London, including workshops and interactive performances at the Royal Festival Hall. Testimonials: Tatyana M. Toby is a fantastic teacher. He is very reliable as he is consistently organised and punctual. I constantly see progress in my child’s music skills because every lesson Toby delivers is effective and well-structured. I highly recommend him to all who wish to learn or improve on their music skills. Pamela B. Toby is really a great teacher, who teaches pieces well and teases out the feeling while playing. We particularly liked that. Good technique is one thing, but feeling the music is such an important element in music and in learning a piece of music. He also teaches theory very well! Hanna S. Toby can explain things very well and understandably, is patient and friendly and easily adapts to the level of the student More below
