Dutch classes by Dutch Language and Communication graduate

Coming to Belgium can be very shocking after hearing the type of language they speak here. You get confronted by the difference in culture and it can be difficult to move around without speaking the language. Being an immigrant myself, I wish I had the opportunity to be able to learn the basics from a trustworthy teacher. For that I want to become a supporting figure to help you make your first steps into this new country. In this class the goal is to learn the basics in Dutch as well as grammatica. The most important goal is for you to be able to speak, read and understand what people say.

Dutch is my native language. Like you, I'm an expat. I've lived in multiple countries, learned several languages and know how difficult this can be. Let me help you improve your Dutch, so you can get that promotion, strike up that conversation in the bar, or just feel comfortable in Dutch language situations. I'll make sure to take your personal needs, preferences and schedule into account to make sure you advance as quick as possible. Extra info: I have a teacher diploma and years of teaching experience, so my didactics will be on point. I can explain grammar in Dutch, English, French and/or German if needed.

As a teacher of Dutch 🇳🇱 and German 🇩🇪 I have experience teaching children from 4 years old to 18 years old. I can also teach other language subjects such as English 🇺🇲 or German. I take care of the exams for the Dutch subject at the school where I work and I also have experience with this. Lessons are fully customizable. 🌷

If your child is having difficulties in school, I would love to be able to help them overcome them. I had the opportunity to work in several non-profit organizations (Schola ULB, Youth Club, CIFA, ABEF) where I helped young adolescents to understand their subject in French, English and Dutch. I also helped them prepare for their exams, including the CEB and CE1D. We will work together on their lessons, we will review the vocabulary and grammar they need to know and we will work on their difficulties in order to overcome them. In view of the current situation, I teach only online.

In our class we will be relaxed, I will help you with the Dutch conversation, the grammar, reading (like an article or a topic what I will give you). I will help students for beginners-lower-intermediate level. After every lesson I will give you homework for the next lesson. Between the two lessons you can always ask me a question about the subject what we’ve discussed. If you have a subject what you’d like to learn about the Dutch language, let me know. You naturally learn to express yourself no matter where or with whom you are. Classes are adventurous and structural; We use image | sound and Neurolinguistic Programming. You indicate your Goals yourself and the time you need to achieve them.

I use several methods which are specially conceived to teach Dutch to people who have a different mother tongue. I really like to use methods out of the ordinary like role games or methods with which you learn while playing. All these adapted to the student's situation of course. As I learned myself a couple of other languages, it is easy for me to detect difficulties a student can encounter and adapt the way of learning. I can teach in English, French, German and Russian.

I am a very experienced teacher in Dutch as a second language. I love working with people from other countries because it widens my view and apart from teaching you a new language, I will learn from you about new cultures. For me, learning a new language is first of all learning to get around in daily life. So, a beginners course will always start with this basic information: introducing yourself; making appointments with the dentist, hairdresser, and so on; shopping; going to a restaurant; etc. On an intermediate level, we will work on your speaking skills: having a conversation with your colleagues about your weekend, reading a newspaper article and talk about it; talking about your hobbies, etc. With advanced students we can work on whatever field they need; for example work or other things that are important for you.

First of all, I think it is important that we have fun while learning. After all, that makes learning much more fun! In the lessons I am happy to help you with your grammatical questions about Dutch. We can also work on your speaking, writing and/or listening skills. Do you want help with your homework assignments? This is certainly possible! I would like to hear at what level you master the language and what you would like to learn. I like to challenge you but don't want to overwhelm you. The price for the lesson is for 1 person.

If your child can use some extra support with, for example, counting, (reading) reading or writing, I would like to offer my help. I have been giving tutoring to children of different ages for a few years now. I also have a lot of experience as a babysitter and as an au pair, so I'm used to working with children and helping them get ahead and helping them see how much they can actually do!
