I'm Age, a native Dutch. I dreamt about working with other cultures and studied first to be a teacher and then a master in development economics. I worked as editor of several books about international economics. I started AmsterDutch because I like teaching more, especially one-on-one. I can make use of my skills to empathize, sensitivity to others and patience. Learning another language is not a straight linear process and brings different challenges for different people.
I love to play piano and I'm learning to play trumpet.

Education

After a bachelor in teaching, I completed a master in development economics. I am certified Dutch teacher with teacher training Dutch as a second language from University of Amsterdam/Hogeschool Holland.

Are you taking VWO or Havo exams this year? Dutch is the stumbling block. Practicing on a high level also guarantees better results for other subjects (Biology, Mathematics, Physics, classical & modern foreign languages, Art, Social Sciences, etc.). Also supervision of profile assignment and preparation (oral) Literature.
Possibly also E-learning; check / discuss / supervise training online / via FaceTime.
For lessons on location (at home with student or elsewhere), price is ex. travel expenses.
Training can also be done together with others; you then pay every proportional part of the hourly rate. Shown packages of 5 or 10 lessons indicate price per person for group lessons at 5 resp. 10 students.
Other (lower) combination rates are possible, in consultation.

I am a positive and optimistic person and this is also how I teach. I focus on how to do things right rather than wasting energy on why things are wrong. This creates a nice learning atmosphere and it also makes the course much more productive. I like to have an open communication with my students and encourage them to let me know what their difficulties are and what they want to improve.

When learning a language it is very important that you can quickly put into practice what you have learned. This naturally motivates you to learn more. For that reason I find it important that it is clear from the beginning what the language needs and wishes of my students are so we can work towards your goals in an effective way and make sure you are able to apply what you have learned as soon as possible.

The reason why I like teaching so much is because I enjoy showing people what they are capable of and to help them develop their skills. Another reason is that it allowes me to open the door for you to a great language and culture!
