I specialize in teaching English to all age groups and levels of students from basic to advanced. I strive to incorporate lots of authentic material into my lessons to make them both engaging and fun. Whether it be songs, stories, news articles, idioms, jokes or films I try to focus on real world usage of the language with a strong focus on the culture that surrounds it. I also encourage learners to teach me about their lives and interests as I share mine with them. Catering my lessons to your specific needs is my primary goal. Hi, My name is Jake, I'm originally from Chicago, but I live in Istanbul where I have taught English at university to first-year students for the past 7 years. I have a TEFL Certificate and a BA in photography from Colombia College Chicago. I've been teaching for eleven years and I have experience working with all levels of learners from kids to adults I strive to create engaging lessons that address my students specific needs whether they be speaking, reading, writing, grammar or listening. I have a strong interest in music, art, history, science and literature and I try to incorporate material that applies to them all. My hobbies include playing bass and guitar, djing, travel, photography, cooking, reading, cycling and juggling just to name a few.
