I teach Dutch to adults and young adults in different contexts, focusing both on general language acquisition and professional communication. My approach is learner-centered and interactive. I combine communicative methods with structured grammar and vocabulary development, always adapting the lessons to the needs and goals of my students.
At CVO and LIGO, I work with diverse groups of learners, often with multicultural and multilingual backgrounds. I emphasize practical language skills that students can apply in their daily lives, such as speaking, listening, and functional writing. I also integrate cultural aspects of Dutch-speaking society to help students not only learn the language but also understand the context in which it is used.
At VUB, I teach professional Dutch, which means I prepare students for academic and professional settings. Here I focus on formal writing, presentations, academic vocabulary, and workplace communication. I encourage active participation, group work, and task-based learning to simulate real-life situations.
Across all levels and institutions, I believe in creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment, where students feel confident to experiment with language. I use digital tools, authentic materials, and personalized feedback to maximize learning outcomes and to motivate students to develop both fluency and accuracy in Dutch.
