All parts of two dimensional art are based in the core components of shape, line, form, color, texture, value, and rhythm. This class will serve as a crash course in how to identify the parts of a whole subject and translate it into whichever medium you wish to try.

Class time will be spent constructing subjects using shape, exploring forms of still life's, implementing and explaining the use of references, understanding basic lighting and shadow, applying line weight, understanding basic color theory, and sharing techniques used to successfully portray an artistic subject.

The lessons are suited for absolute beginners, people wanting to try a new hobby or grow a passion. More experienced artists will also be able to participate by having a positive environment for constructive critiques, to enhance their skills and techniques, or to simply seek advice and communication with a fellow artist.

Bring any materials you might require for your medium of choice, e.g. paints, brushes, charcoal, drawing tablet etc.
Traditional art will require at least a basic HB or B pencil (a full range of pencils is recommended), an eraser, and a sketchbook/paper/canvas.
Digital art will require your drawing device and program of your choice.
If there is a specific artistic subject or reference you wish to focus on, please bring all related materials.

Hello! I am an Artist from South Africa currently based in the U.S.A! I have a wide range of skills and experience in multiple different artistic mediums (pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, oil paint, acrylics, watercolor, digital design, ceramics, papier mache, and more!).

I particularly enjoy teaching to students with a definite passion for their subject. Enthusiasm and openness are huge defining traits for me, I enjoy sharing my time and abilities with those who share an eagerness to improve and experience the joy of creating. I am dedicated to helping students improve through constructive critiques as well as promoting growth and enjoyment.

My teaching style is quite loose and based on the student's goals, expectations, experience, and medium. I do implement structure and planning but am flexible when it comes to making adjustments. I try to make the more 'boring' subjects entertaining and creative, what 'still life' wouldn't be improved with a dragon?

I welcome everyone from beginners with no experience in art but want to try out a new hobby or skill, to seasoned artists who just need a space for critiques and advice!

I am a visual artist born in Barcelona, settled in Belgium since 2017. As an artist I have accumulated experience for the last 25 years. I am graduated with an Academic Bachelor in Fine Arts in the University of Barcelona and graduated as a Master in Visual Arts at Sint Lucas School of Arts in Antwerpen.

I am specialised in painting, drawing, experimental films, installations, language, sound and curating. In other words, I am a multidisciplinary artist.

I understand the artistic practice as a way to understand ourselves and the situations which surrounds us. In my classes I don't teach how to do Art, but as how to say something through your artistic work. With me you can work independently, with a coach who will challenge you with some assignments and giving feedback to your personal concerns.

In addition, you will learn how to work with several mediums, preparing your own material: paintings, canvases, and so on.

You will not only receive individual coaching but as encourage you to look other artists or take into account other references connected with your concerns.

I offer to train you in painting figurines, to help you assemble and paint figurines belonging to various ranges of games such as Warhammer, Warhammer 40000, Lord of the Rings, Dungeons & Dragons or even any Kickstarter board game.

Would you like to be able to illustrate the worlds and stories you imagine?

Do you want to learn how to create characters for a video game, animation, children's story, comic or in any format? Or would you like to be able to draw your favorite characters?

If you have those concerns, I would love to help you.

I like to focus the classes in such a way that the current drawing level of the student is not what is important. The room for improvement will always evolve. I like to take my classes towards character design, towards general things like the psychology of color and shapes, since they are assimilable and highly useful concepts, independent of the level of drawing. For this reason, my classes are aimed at all ages and drawing levels.

I also try to focus them on the preferences and tastes of each student, showing them that everything they like, they like for a reason, that nothing is left to chance and that they can also understand how to make their drawings reflect what they want to convey. Even to create your portfolios or visual information for your own project or story.

I give private classes with students from different parts of the world, so many of my classes I have been able to do in both English and French.

I studied 2D animation in France, and thanks to this training, my work has been nourished by dynamism, storytelling, expressiveness, typical of this medium, as well as the sensitivity for color and shapes that I usually use to infuse a unique style both to my original designs as well as my fanarts.

I have a bachelor's degree in digital arts, obtained at Saint Luc in 2016. During my studies I made live models, had courses in color, 2D animation, perspectives and character design.
I mainly draw with a graphics tablet.
During the lessons we will see how:
- look at an image, understand how the artist composes it, then learn to reproduce a style.
- use layers
- use filters to give more life to images
- learn different coloring methods, from grayscale coloring to colorization with filters
- use different brushes
- export illustrations in the correct formats
- integrate photos into your drawings

With this flexible method, I could teach you in a few lessons to discover or deepen your drawing style and improve your renderings.

I am an artist and philosopher from Amsterdam currently living in Antwerp. I studied in London where I acquired a BA from Art Academy London and a BA in philosophy from St Mary's University London.

Artistic development starts by identifying your artistic interest. As artists, we don’t always know why we draw and paint the things that we do. Yet they are not random. What captivates us or draws us towards certain artworks? This might be the tonal way in which light reflects, structural forms or mathematical division. The point being, is that we all have such aesthetic interests and step 1 is finding out what interests you!

Step 2 is helping you express your interests through painting techniques, styles and materiality. But it all starts with you. What do you want to say? And how? I will help you do this through discussion, looking at your previous work (if you have any), introducing you to a LARGE variety of artists, potentially copying their styles. I adjust my classes according to your needs.

The goal is simple: to come to understand your artistic interest, help you find techniques to express them and develop your artistic language.

(Please note that just because you have found an artistic interest and a way to express it, it does not mean that you must do only one thing for the rest of your life. It is the downfall of creativity to repeat and paint the same way over and over again. Instead, allow your interests to drive your creativity. Let it be the starting point, venture out and discover it from various angles and ways of expressing it. But also be mindful that as we grow our interests can change and as they change, we must remain honest and respond accordingly such that our artistic language can also grow.)

Who this is for?

This course is for motivated students aiming for TU / FH / Akademie - Bachelor Degree in Vienna.
It follows a mentorship model, providing close guidance and structured support to help students prepare for both Matura and architecture admission exams with greater clarity, efficiency, and (hopefully) reduced risk of burnout.

Format & rhythm

• Recommended rhythm: 2 individual sessions / week, each 3–4 h, primarily held in person.
• Online sessions are offered only when in-person attendance is not possible.
• Start: ideally 9–12 months before the admission date.
• First session: skills assessment drawing test + short questionnaire (preferences, favorite architects, goals). Students who present previous work skip the drawing test.
• Language: English (with translations/explanations as needed).
• Recommended age: 16+

• Portfolio strategy aligned with the student’s vision and academic criteria; project-based work with feedback; curated final portfolio pages; captions and visual storytelling;
• TU Wien - specific support including sketches for the motivation letter and ranking test preparation.

3. Interview & Jury impression

• How to present choices: storytelling (problem → idea → resolution → learning).
• Jury cares about: clarity of thinking, process visibility, curiosity, adaptability, visual literacy, attitude.
• Prepare answers for likely questions: motivations, favorite works, why architecture, what you learned from a project, how you solve problems.

Ce cours s’adresse aux élèves qui souhaitent apprendre à dessiner, développer leur univers visuel ou préparer une entrée en école d’art. Illustrateur, concept artist et enseignant en arts visuels, j’accompagne depuis plusieurs années des étudiants et des créatifs dans l’apprentissage du dessin académique, de l’illustration, du character design, du concept art et de la narration visuelle.

Les cours sont adaptés au niveau et aux objectifs de chaque élève. Nous pouvons travailler les bases du dessin comme l’observation, les proportions, la perspective, la lumière, la composition et l’anatomie, mais aussi des approches plus avancées comme la création de personnages, de décors, de planches de recherches, de portfolios ou de projets personnels.
