With 270M+ speakers around the world, Portuguese is the last of the Romance Languages (the last "child" of Latin) and the third most spoken in the West, just behind Spanish and English. The laguage is spoken mainly in Portugal (its homeland) and Brazil (most native speakers); knowing how to speak Portuguese will open ways into the best of Lusitan and Brazilian cultures, with a lot of legends and world history to discover! Also, Portuguese is, perhaps, the most sentimental language in the world: you will have at your disposal a myriad of words to express yourself fully and deeply, in a way you never realised it was possible.
