History and Political Science: From Founding Ideals to Civic Movement.
This class explores the dynamic relationship between American history and political development, beginning with the Constitutional Convention of 1787 and continuing through the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. Students will discover the key historical events, ideas, and figures that shaped the nation’s identity, while also analyzing the evolution of democratic institutions.
In the Political Science portion, we’ll trace the history of U.S. presidential elections from 1788 to the present, including significant shifts in party systems, campaign strategies, and voter participation. We’ll also explore congressional and local elections to understand how civic engagement has changed over time.
Whether you’re preparing for exams, deepening your understanding of American democracy, or simply curious about how history and politics intersect, this class offers a thoughtful, accessible, and engaging experience.

Présentation
I was born and raised in California but moved to North Carolina at the age of 5. I’m a passionate educator and historian who believes learning should be personal, empowering, and connected to the world around us. With academic training in History and Political Science and bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, I help students build confidence in their voice—whether they’re writing essays, exploring historical narratives, or mastering a new language.
I specialize in student-centered instruction that adapts to each learner’s goals, interests, and strengths. My sessions often blend storytelling, critical thinking, and real-world connection, especially in history, civics, and writing. I also bring experience as an election worker and community organizer, which advises my commitment to civic education and inclusive teaching.
Whether you’re preparing for college, brushing up on Spanish, or diving into a historical topic, I’ll meet you where you are—and help you grow from there.
