Poetry is a unique and specialized craft, requiring a strong facility for language and a distinct poetic voice. In this class we can work on whatever you need: starting from scratch with prompts for beginning a poem, workshopping an already existing piece or pieces, or learning about formal techniques and the fundamental aspects of good poetry. Learn from an experienced student of poetry!

Halli received her BA in Creative Writing from DePaul University in 2023. She is currently pursuing an MA in Poetry at Queen's University Belfast. She is a Citywide Poet Representative and former editor of DePaul Literary Magazine, Crook & Folly. She has been published in Crook & Folly ed. 42 (2022) and The Apiary ed. 8. (2025).

Hello! I'm Halli and I'm originally from Chicago, but currently based in Belfast. I am a lover of all forms of creative writing, but poetry is my concentration. I am a very friendly and easygoing individual who is eager to help with any goals you have set for yourself, or if you need some direction I'd be happy to create some learning/creative goals with you! Writing is a fun and freeing activity, so this is a low pressure environment, but we will aim for generation and improvement!

This class offers insight into the English language. The students learn how to write, speak and comprehend the English language. Students will learn how to write clear and well-developed multi-paragraph essays using various methods through the process of planning, drafting, revising, editing and peer reviewing. Through individual and (sometimes) group activities, students work on improving pronunciation, practising conversation strategies and delivering oral presentations.

I offer careful proofreading, both in terms of content and form, of written work such as internship reports, senior work, end-of-study dissertations, dissertations, comments or reading sheets.

This is individual Japanese/Japanese language instruction for primary and secondary school students whose native language is Japanese or who are growing up in a bilingual environment.

This course is aimed at learners with intermediate knowledge of Mandarin who wish to further develop their oral expression, writing and reading comprehension skills.

Together we will talk, read, and write about everyday and current topics (from studying, work, and travel to social media and Chinese culture). You will learn to conduct conversations more fluently, write clearly structured texts, and better understand authentic materials (articles, short essays, stories).

In class, we work with dialogues, role-playing, discussions, writing assignments with individual feedback, and reading strategies. In doing so, we discover Mandarin as the most widely spoken language in the world and as a language with a great future in both professional and everyday life.
