Today, a multidisciplinary artist with a passion for teaching, I entered the Conservatory of Music very early on to learn piano and music theory: at the age of 6. For a little over a year, I have been teaching children between the ages of 4 and 6. My lessons are presented as a fun musical awakening: - know how to stand in front of a piano, - hand positioning, fingering, - learning rhythm and scales, - note recognition, - musical discovery and listening. However, I propose to accompany any beginner, whatever their age (child, teenager, adult). I mainly travel to homes, my Casio piano keyboard on my back, to offer those who do not yet have one the opportunity to try and tame the instrument.

Holder of two Masters from the Conservatory of Mons, I offer my lessons to new students curious to discover the art of this instrument or to the most seasoned who wish to perfect their technique. I teach music theory full-time in two Brussels academies and have been giving piano lessons on my own for several years. My schedule requires me to give my piano lessons before 3 p.m. because I work afterwards. The development of my students is my priority, which is why I easily adapt to different desires and offer great flexibility in terms of the programs studied. As violinist and musician, I think it is fundamental for a student of music to understand their bodies in order to feel the inner voice of themselves. I studied Alexander technique so in my teaching I always talk about relaxing, feeling the right tensions and avoiding the not-useful ones. I will be happy to teach violin to everyone who needs to improve musicality, technique, self-consciousness or simply who like to enjoy violin. As a violinst, I usually play with ensemble or in chamber music projects across the Europe. I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.

My classes are different depending on your level and age. With children from 7 to 12, we start by doing easy vocalization and start training the ear with intonation, we then have fun singing your favorite songs. With teenagers, I also start with some vocalization, a little more elaborate. Depending on the student's capabilities, we start establishing a comfortable range for them and then proceed to singing. For my older students ideally, I divide our lesson into 2 sections. We work on respiration and how the diaphragm works. We do scales and arpeggios and work on intonation. We then proceed to singing and putting into practice our technique. Some students might need more technique before they actually sing, I like to take things slowly and make sure the student feels confident and comfortable singing. I teach children, teenagers, and adults, from beginners to more advanced. Classical training enables you to sing in any kind of way, so don’t hesitate and let’s sing!
