Hello! My name is Alessandra and I am an experienced science teacher currently working at an international school in Switzerland. I teach Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics to secondary school, IGCSE and A-Level students.

I am passionate about helping students improve their understanding, confidence and study skills. My teaching style is patient, supportive and structured, and I always adapt lessons to the individual needs of each student.

I enjoy working with students of different levels and backgrounds, whether they need help with homework, exam preparation, revision or improving their general academic performance. My name is Valentin and I have a master's degree in Physics from ENS Lyon. In 2017 I became the youngest medalist at the International Physics Olympiad. Currently I am doing my doctoral studies in Basel. My scientific approach favors above all the in-depth understanding of concepts rather than the simple learning of the laws of physics by heart. I have experience solving very complex problems in physics and mathematics, where just knowing the formulas is not enough. It is by grasping the deeper meaning of these formulas that we can effectively apply them in a broader context and thus facilitate the search for solutions.

I start by doing a short assessment of the student's level, followed by identifying their main difficulties in the subject. Then I explain difficult concepts in detail and show how I would approach different problems through concrete examples. I'll break down complex formulas into simpler pieces to explain what they mean, rather than just memorizing them. Additionally, I will try to make the topic more interesting and interactive, referencing real-world examples and experiences, wherever applicable.

I offer courses for students of all levels, up to the third year of university in physics and the second year in mathematics. I have several years of teaching experience and my students have been able to do well in their exams. I can give my classes in the evening in Basel, or in neighboring cities as long as they are accessible by train and less than an hour by train, such as Bern or Zurich.
