Piano lessons for acquiring and/or improving piano skills

In my class, I teach piano in a way that allows you to make progress on your own. "Don't give a man a fish, instead teach him how to fish," is the idea here. My methods include, besides basics, approaches to expressing your own musicality, stable memorization, practice habits and efficiency, technical ease, focus exercises, body awareness, and stage fright. Hence, I am best suited for intermediate and advanced students that have the desire to either study piano on a collegiate level or make significant improvements for themselves. I would like to add at this point that I have a special affinity for the concert etudes by Frédéric Chopin. However, I am perfectly happy to start with students from the very beginning as well and regardless, I will adjust to my student's needs upon mutual agreement. My free times that I listed as available are a rough estimate, lesson times are normally negotiable.

About Me

My name is Stefan, and I am German-born pianist with an undergraduate and graduate degree from the US (Fort Worth and Minneapolis respectively) and a post-graduate degree from Belgium (Antwerp). I have performed in the US, Germany, France, Austria, Italy, Belgium, Estonia and South Korea. Since my first year (2012) as a music student at a university and much to my own initial surprise, I have taught and coached my piano colleagues. What started out as discussions about fingerings turned eventually into full coaching sessions, which significantly helped them. Through this, I have developed a professionally sufficient and mentally healthy approach to teaching the piano.

In most of my lessons, my work is the one of a diagnostician. I attempt to precisely determine what causes issues and then find the best possible solution for the student. I am nurturing, calm, kind, reasonable and understanding, however I am direct. I will do everything I can during the lessons in order to help my students, however, I cannot practice for them. Once the student walks out of the lesson, I am not in charge of what happens. Hence, the student's improvement is just as much dependent on the student's practice habits, as it is on my instruction. I never expect fast results, rather small, steady and continuous improvements, since learning the piano is essentially like learning a language. No infant has learned their mother tongue in less than 3 years and it is better to perceive piano as a skill that comes over time through training rather than something that only "talented" people can do.

Very educational lesson and pleasant to receive lessons from Stefan :)

Stefan has been an enormous help in orienteering the way I practice and in improving my technique by looking deeply into specific feelings and movements, and by going over the use of the fingers in a balanced and efficient way. I have learnt a great deal and am finding myself more and more comfortable, confident, and in control of my playing eachday. I have never experienced a teacher quite like Stefan, who really targets the lessons for specific learning styles and fine tunes problems. I would wholeheartedly recommend his training to anyone learning piano.
While I've only had my first lesson so far, the initial impression was very positive. Stefan is a very polite, kind, and yet direct person, which made the lesson very pleasant as well as efficient. He asked a lot of questions to ensure he understands my goals as well as my musical preferences. I am quite excited to continue my lessons with him.
I have my own piano studio for children & adults who like to be involved with music. Stefan's lessons are a great professional support for me: for my own study, to bring my piano technique up to speed & to sharpen my understanding of music. He is an excellent and passionate pianist himself and that works inspiring. Stefan has insight into how someone can learn new things, and a very good approach to teach you a good piano technique in a relaxed way. You come to yourself, in your body, in the music and this opens new doors for a very personal experience with music. For me this is the ideal input at the right moment. If you want to work with piano semi-professionally or professionally, this coaching is highly recommended!
I've had a very productive first lesson with Stefan. He is very mindful of your current capabilities and goals. Very excited for the many lessons that will follow.

Regular piano lessons too difficult? Then try piano lessons with me!
In piano lessons, we use the book method of Notus or Hal Leonard. Everything is explained step by step and you gradually learn to read music and know the piano. At the start of our lessons we'll take a look at what is important to you. What goals do you want to set, and what feels achievable and comfortable? We set long-term goals of, for example, a year. Completely tailored to where you are at, right now. During the lessons I am patient, motivating, encouraging, and complimenting. I'll point out what could be better, and also pay attention to how you can play more easily. And much more. Tailored to your needs and wishes.

How do I learn to play the piano as quickly as possible? Private lessons in Antwerp!
How do I learn to play the piano as quickly as possible? A question that I am asked every day. The answer is simple: - Find a fantastic piano mentor - Practice regularly - not for long, but efficiently - Playing the piano is auditory, but also visual - Note learning lessons are unnecessary in this digital age - use the right apps My piano lesson focuses on: - Finger Flexibility / Keyboard Insight / Understanding Harmony - 50% technique - 50% fun (although technique practice can also be fun!) Pianistic greetings! Alex

Harples, piano lessons, solfège - for all levels and ages - Mechelen, Antwerp, Bonheiden, Ghent region
The content of the lessons is adapted to the needs and wishes of each student. It is possible to follow a combination of music theory and instrument, or only focus on one aspect. Depending on the student's goal, the level, teaching method and music styles are adjusted and personalized in consultation. Together we will look at what your learning needs are and which method suits you best. I am familiar with different styles for both harp and piano, from classical music (baroque, impressionism, classicism, romanticism and contemporary music), to folk music, jazz standards, pop songs or minimalist music. There is also the option to work from improvisations. The lessons are suitable for all ages and levels, the personal profile of the student is central.

Music and Piano classes - beginner to intermediate
I have been learning the violin and piano since 5 years old, and am currently taking a bachelor's in Music Performance in Violin, at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp. Students of any age are welcome, and I have special experience with beginner and younger students, having given a lot of lessons in piano and music theory. I teach in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and basic Dutch. The individual piano lessons are personalized and tailored to the progress and learning ability of each student. Emphasis is placed on developing good posture and ease of movement at the early stage. We will then continue to revise and enhance technique while taking on a more challenging repertoire as they progress. Lessons are stress-free and I always try to provide a safe and calm environment for an engaging and fun class! Games for little kids are an absolute must! Don't hesitate to contact me if you have a question! :)

Blanca
Piano lessons for children and adults.
Hello everyone! My name is Blanca and I am a Master's student at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen. I offer private music and piano lessons, at your place or even online. I have been teaching children and adults since I was 17, and I have been working in a lot of private schools, as well as my own private students. I can adapt the content to every level, and for me, it's quite important the communicate during the lessons and the goals we want to achieve. I can teach in Spanish (my mother tongue), English, or even German. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me :)

Giorgia
Piano lessons - music theory and harmony - for any level
I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Cheslava
Piano and Singing tutor with 5 years experience and professional education
From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.

Federica
Jazz/Pop/Classical Piano/Voice and Music lessons for all ages
Hi, I'm Federica, I am Italian, and I am a Jazz Piano player and singer. I studied at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague. I'm doing my Master's at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. I give Jazz/Pop/Classical Piano lessons but my main goal is to try to give the student a general understanding of the music to approach every style and to have fun with music! I love to work with children, I like to teach them good values like patience, self-confidence, trust, communication, and collaboration, all through music. That's what I learn every day by studying music and that's what I would like to transfer to my students. I've been told that If you have music in your life, you can't be a bad person. I believe in it. I offer live and online lessons: Piano Vocals Ear Training Technique Improvisation Repertoire Music Theory
