I am an incoming student at Codarts Conservatory and have a background in various music styles, improvisation, and composition. As a passionate and professional musician, I help you develop your innate talent for music-making and give you the space to develop your own musicality with heart and passion. Each lesson brings something new and will foster the development of your creativity and musical proficiency while having fun. Lessons are interactive, spontaneous, structured, and follow your natural curiosity and innate musical capabilities. My methods are tailored to the individual needs and goals of the students. I am particularly interested in the Kodaly and Faber methods of teaching music. Lessons are for children and adults of all ages. Hey! My name is Daan and I am a keyboard player, producer and songwriter and I am happy to teach piano at your home in Amsterdam. I graduated from the Conservatory of Amsterdam pop department and am also very active in bands (as a keyboardist, singer, guitarist, bassist and drummer) and as a producer/songwriter in various genres. As a teacher, I am mainly concerned with what the student wants to achieve and what can be gotten out of the student. Do you want to learn that one new song by Billie Eilish, or an advanced piece by Stevie Wonder; I can always help you. The great thing about music is that you can learn and perform it at all kinds of levels. My job is to find the right level for the right student, so that progress can be made at the same time as there is fun during the lessons. In addition, I find it important that my students not only play the piano, but also understand the music and build up a knowledge of the music theory behind the pieces. I studied at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague and I just completed a master in Vocals and Piano at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. From my studio at the Berlagebrug, I give Piano lessons to beginners and (semi) advanced students. The lessons take place on a Yamaha wing and when a piece is well under control, we can make a professional recording of it. I graduated in 1992 as a musician from the Hilversum Conservatory (nowadays Conservatory of Amsterdam) in the direction of light music, or jazz and pop. So with me, you learn not only to read notes but also chord schemes and - if you want - improvisation. Or we search together for a song that you would like to play and make a nice adaptation of it. Together we first look at exactly what you want to learn and align the curriculum. I can also help you learn how to compose and produce. I work with Pro Tools and Logic Pro X.
