Trusted teacher: Let’s begin your musical journey! Perhaps this is the first time you are playing an instrument? Or you are picking it up having played it years ago. Perhaps you have a dream of where or what you would like to play...or want to improve specific skills to simply enjoy playing more. My aim is to create a path with you (or your child), to discover and develop ways to achieve your own musical goals. I offer 30-minute instrumental lessons – these are aimed at beginner students to build stamina, posture and basic playing techniques. You can combine this with an additional 30 minutes of musicianship, this is for children to build a solid foundation of musical skills –including rhythm, note reading and pitch, composition, tempo and more. Group lessons are possible for beginner players, these can be a fun and motivating way of learning together for students, however these would be regularly reviewed to ensure learning needs of each student are met. I would recommend 60-minute lessons for intermediate student/adult students – this is to work on more complex musical skills, exercises and pieces. Goals for lessons: Making music from day 1 Exploring and refining the craft of playing the instrument Setting reachable goals to build stamina, technique and musicianship Developing ‘inner ear’ with aural exercises Learning musical notation/composition Casual performance opportunities solo or in a group (if desired) Most importantly...having fun! About me... I have worked in instrument music education at schools, academies and privately for the last 12 years, whilst playing professionally as a freelance violin/viola player and conductor with orchestras, musicals and in community music settings in England. I thoroughly enjoy teaching, and base my approach on the needs of the student, using experience in different schools of music teaching - including traditional classical Suzuki and Kodaly principles to more modern day improvisation focussed educators such as Christian Howes and Bobby McFerrin. Lessons available in English and Dutch. Do get in touch if you have any questions!

Trusted teacher: Hi! My name is Vivian and all students are welcome! I focus on musical and technical development, can also accompany my students on the piano, practice playing together and teach the students who are ready for it some music theory. Recitals are organized to work towards something, learn to perform and listen to each other. If the student is ready for it, I will guide in finding orchestras and ensemble opportunities. Students can also get in touch with each other to get a click and start playing together. With my educational skills I have also given violin workshops to primary and secondary schools through Het Residentieorkest and I have worked as a substitute teacher at the learning orchestra The Residents several times. At the conservatory I have followed education lessons and the Kodály course Music as a Profession. Beginners usually start with a half hour lesson and if the teacher or the student notices that this is too short for the current development, the lesson time is increased to 45 minutes or 60 minutes in consultation. The student must provide a violin himself. A violin can be rented or purchased and I can give advice and help with this. Furthermore, the student must purchase a music stand, a lesson book and new strings every few months. Send me a message if you are interested, have questions, want to meet or would like to try a trial lesson. I think it would be great to get started on the violin together, discover beautiful music and have fun with it! (Tip: be quick because my teaching practice is often full)

Erika is a fantastic teacher and a lovely human being. Very patient, and has a creative teaching style. You can immediately tell she enjoys what she does, and this makes the sessions more entertaining. She would always go the extra mile to make things more clear. I’m absolutely grateful for her!
