I am a very experienced and friendly piano teacher based in Poole, UK. I have taught all ages and most styles of music. Students can learn for leisure as well as exams up to grade 8. I enjoy playing and teaching classical, jazz, blues and pop. I enjoy teaching beginners as well as more advanced students. I like to integrate music theory and interesting harmony examples into my lessons where appropriate.

I also teach music theory up to grade 5 as well as basic songwriting and writing music for media such as production/library music. Personally I write music for a number of publishers around the world including BMG and Sony/ATV. My music has been broadcast on many productions in promos, trailers, dramas on NBC, BBC and PBS.

I have taught in various local schools including Bethany Junior School in Bournemouth and Corfe Hills School as well as Bournemouth University, one to one as well as in small groups for piano and electronic keyboard.

My teaching style is relaxed yet focussed. I like to concentrate on technique and correct fingering introducing scales and studies while developing expression and musicianship as the lessons progresses. I constantly ask questions to assess the students understanding at all key stages and reinforce knowledge through repetition and examples. The most important matter that I could write here about is my passion to teach. I've been teaching already for more than 10 years, from kids to adults. I'm a classical pianist, but I am opened to other musical styles. What I want you to get from your lessons with me, is not only a huge knowledge of theorical stuff or a great technique, I would like to show you my musical world, the imagination and inner exploration that is required to understand and to love music in a whole new level. Once you have found them, it will be very hard to quit playing!

The Tecla y Música Workshop is a space designed to learn and develop your musical and expressive sense through the piano and / or keyboards.
The main objective is to learn to make music and enjoy the learning process and its results.
The material with which we work (songs, instrumental pieces and exercises) is mainly oriented to your musical taste, and the choice is based on gradually expanding your technical and expressive possibilities, while exploring different musical styles.
In this way, different tools are being incorporated to achieve, in a short term, mastery and fluency over the musical language and the instrument.
Given that each student has different interests and concerns, whether playing as a hobby or developing a professional career, composing, improvising, etc., the orientation of the classes is built according to the possibilities and particular needs of each case.
The work proposal implies a weekly class frequency to achieve optimal work dynamics and that the results are visible in a short term.
There is also the possibility of taking isolated classes in order to solve a specific objective such as developing and perfecting some particular aspect of music practice and / or theory as well as preparing instrument exams or theoretical subjects for institutions of musical studies.

I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age.

I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.
