Hi, I'm Rachel. I graduated from the University of Sydney, Australia with a Bachelor of Music Performance and have been working as a professional musician for the last 25 years, including teaching cello intensively for 10 years to students of all ages and levels, from beginner to adult. As a freelance musician I have performed in symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, bands, cabaret, theatre and recorded extensively in Europe, the USA and Australia. My artistic associations include Alan Cumming, Cyndi Lauper, Tricky, Marta Zlakowska, Mick Harvey, JP Shilo, Angus & Julia Stone, Efterklang, Stargaze, Alva Noto, Sasha Waltz & Guests, Paul van Dyk, Matthew Barney, Meow Meow, Meret Becker and Katie Melua. ENGLISH
Graduate Music Student (King's College London) gives private violin or piano lessons for beginners and advanced musicians in central Berlin. Preparation for music college

I offer lessons on Piano with personalized lessons for each student according to the goals and the music the student wants to play. We will work on several topics as recognition of the instrument, technique, reading, repertoire, harmony, ear training and composition among other topics. The lessons are in English or in Spanish by the moment. I will reply gladly any questions you have.

My method is based on each student in particular. It doesn't matter your leveI, I enjoy teaching to people who have a commitment with music and art. The main topics we'll work on are: Recognizing piano, technique, sound, ear training, transcribing, harmony and harmony applied to the instrument, and reading and studying the instrument through the music you like and choose.

WHERE
Lessons are at my studio in Wedding, postcode 13359. The room is spacious and comfortable and has a PA system and two drum kits, making it ideal for lessons. I am also available to teach at the student’s location;

I have taught one-on-one lessons to kids as young as 7 but also to adults in their 50s and 60s. Whatever your age, we will make it work.

My experience ranges from teaching young beginners who are just starting out to mature drummers who need to polish their playing. For beginner students, I will teach you the basics of drumming in an approachable way to make it enjoyable from the very start. For experienced drummers, I can improve your technique, groove, feel, tone, articulation, dynamics, stage performance, vocabulary, listening, and reading. I have a Master Of Music degree from Manchester’s Conservatoire (Royal Northern College of Music) in the UK. As an experienced and certified cellist / orchestra musician from Lisboa, Portugal, with several years of teaching, I accompany children, beginners, adults and advanced students into their musical dream and future.

I adapt myself individually to the wishes and needs of my students.
My focus is not only the technichs and motor skills of the instrumental playing, but always trying to convey musical relationships.

The motivation and enthusiasm of my students always come on the first plan.
I bring all my experience and knowledge to my lessons.

In my teaching I also develop skills such as musical hearing and memory, coordination, concentration, rhythm, basics of music theory and improvisation.

The lessons can take place at my place in Neuköln (friedelstr) or at yours (+ 10€ for go and back). Zoom/Skype lessons are also a possibility.

Ableton Live Suite is a vital tool for digital music production and in this course, I will break down how to create music with this software, weather instrumental live tracking or building a digital beat.

This class introduces the core concepts of film scoring and how music shapes story, emotion, and narrative in film and television. Students will learn how to support and move images through music, exploring timing, mood, theme, and structure. Lessons are tailored to each student’s interests and level, from complete beginners to advanced composers, and can focus on electronic, orchestral, or hybrid approaches.

The course also includes analysis and deconstruction of existing film scores to understand compositional techniques and storytelling strategies. Students will learn how to set up and optimize their digital audio workstation for film scoring, define personal creative goals, and work with industry-standard orchestral sample libraries and synthesizers such as Spitfire Audio, Orchestral Tools, and Cinematic Studio Series. Films with sound design and no music can be provided for hands-on scoring exercises, enabling practical experience working directly to picture.
