About Me

Nikos is a guitar player born in Limassol, Cyprus in 1991. He started with guitar around the age of 16 and was mostly self-taught at that time. He initially surrounded himself with rock/metal music, built his own band while composing his own songs and eventually started performing in Rock clubs and festivals around the island.
Gradually the musical search moved into jazz and the improvisational aspect of music. In 2013 he enrolled himself in ArtEZ University of the Arts Arnhem where he obtained his Bachelor degree in Jazz & Pop Guitar Performance.
Through this time, besides leading his own groups with original compositions, being a side-man for various projects within jazz, pop and free improvised music he has also performed for dance, film and art productions in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
After completing his Master’s degree on Jazz guitar at Codarts Rotterdam, he continues to compose new material and develop further in his musical journey with various band formations through genres like jazz, blues, rock, funk, pop, latin, free-impro and electronic music.

Great teacher! Knowledgable, interesting, and… patient lol!
Understanding how music theory works through scale and chords. Using examples from Classical to Pop and Jazz music to learn how to use harmony in a functional but yet free and creative way. Eventually, we can write our own material together.
Bass guitar technique – From scales, chords, arpeggios, sight-reading to fingerings, fingering/picking methods, speed, and accuracy. Groove – What makes a groove feel good and steady? Rhythm – Timing precision/freedom, polyrhythms, odd meters, and coordination. Improvisation – How to improvise melodically over different chord schemes but also broader aspects such as building and breaking tension waves and telling an artistic story. Song Learning - Just learn how to play your favorite song and jam with your favorite bands

Or do you have some experience and you want to improve your skills? Then let's work together to help you - or your child - achieve your goals, like many other students in my studio! A FEW WORDS ABOUT ME: My name is Gina and I am a piano and music theory teacher. I have been professionally teaching for more than 6 years and have guided children, teenagers, and adults of EVERY age! I consider myself a musician in a more holistic way than just a pianist, having experienced also multiple other instruments such as the viola, the tampouras (traditional byzantine instrument), guitar and voice, as well as different choirs and orchestras. At the age of 21 I gained my first professional degree in music harmony from the Conservatory "EHOGENESIS" and one year later in the classical piano from the Conservatory of Saint-Dimitris. Meanwhile, I was accepted into "The Royal Conservatory" of The Hague, to continue more advanced piano studies. ABOUT THE LESSON: The construction of the lessons is tailored on each student's needs and wishes. I choose pieces and exercises from different books, while guiding the students on practicing songs that they personally like. I also provide basic music theory notes and knowledge, to help with the understanding of the piano and music in general. Every lesson is an opportunity to learn something new and my goal as your teacher is to help you pursue your passion and bring out the BEST in you! The lesson take place either in person or online. *For the students who want to understand deeper the music, I am also teaching music theory as a separate class. James
Song Writing Lessons by experienced songwriter and composer
I am a 28-year old guitarist, songwriter and composer based in Den Haag, songwriting, composition, electric and acoustic guitar, in combination with music theory. I teach in English or in Greek. I am half Greek and half Scottish and I have been living in the Netherlands for the last 4 years. I offer lessons in all styles, to all age groups, and for any experience level (ranging from students who have never written a song before, up to experienced songwriters who are looking for fresh ideas and improving their skills to really make their songs shine). Face to face lessons are preferable, but I also teach online. I am a patient and open minded teacher, and my desire is to help you learn what you want to learn, and make sure you enjoy and take pride in your songs, learn to express your musical ideas as best as possible and nurture your curiosity and excitement about the world of music creation ! My Credentials: I hold a Bachelors of Music degree from Birmingham Conservatoire (UK), and a Masters of Music from The Hague Royal Conservatory. My experience as a songwriter and composer ranges from writing songs and singing in indie / off-beat rock bands, solo guitar and vocal performances, home-production of my own songs, creation of instrumental post-rock music, collaborative songwriting in bands, composition of works for classical players, creation of ambient, experimental and electronic music, creation of music for film, and I even some experience in beat-making. I have written songs, I have written orchestra pieces, I have worked as a DIY home producer, I have released albums, and I've performed in concert halls, rock venues, squats and festivals. I My music has been performed in and has taken me to several countries, including Portugal, The Czech Republic, The U.S.A., Canada, Korea, Greece, The U.K., The Netherlands. My Teaching style: My emphasis is to teach you based on your interests and your needs. The lessons are based around each individual student. You bring me the music you are creating and the skills you want to develop as a songwriter, and I build my lessons around that. My primary goal is help you develop your voice as a songwriter, so the starting point for our lessons will always be your music, and then I build our lessons around that. My aim is always to help you find what the heart of the song is about, and help you to bring this out and really make it shine. To help illustrate ideas about topics we discuss I will bring examples that can help inform the music you are creating, we will explore ideas of arrangement, orchestration, band leading and / or production to help flesh out your songs, and we will explore music theory too when that is helpful for us and / or if that is interesting to you. For more experienced songwriters we can explore how to write parts for other players, how to notate and orchestrate songs for acoustic instruments, how to record songs, or how to get the best playing out of your bandmates to help your song shine

Norica
Piano lessons& music theory for children and adult beginners/intermediate
Hi there! My name is Norica. I am a pianist and a piano teacher from Tokyo. Just quickly to the point: My approach is holistic and systematic. It uses lots of fun exercise and nice educational materials from Japan in addition to the Internationally standard books. (Don't worry, you don't have to understand Japanese!) You learn not only how to play piano but also how music works- music theory. I know what my students are good at and not so good at right off the bat. That's why I can tailor the lesson plans to their goals and needs. Another important aspect of my lesson is to focus on improving cognitive skills - increasing in memory, right-hand-left-hand-coordination, sustained attention, nonverbal communication, and a feeling of independence and freedom. I do so with unique materials and fun trainings. Currently students from 5 to 75 years old are taking my lessons. My oldest student can play piano and makes progress in each lesson. She has no signs of being old..! I am enthusiastic about teaching children and adult beginners. Committed to the process of learning while making lessons enjoyable and constructive. Lessons are provided by a Bosendorfer concert piano at the convenient location of Den Haag Central. Digital pianos are fine, but playing acoustic pianos is important. So I ask you to come to my place. Please drop me a line if you're interested. If you are not sure about anything about the lesson, just let me know. I will be happy to answer to all your questions. All from 4 to 99 years old are welcome!

Music Theories - Unifying two worlds: how we make music and how we understand it to make it better
What is music theory? Is it just one theory? What do we do with it? How come so many of the greatest musicians didn't know even the name of the notes? Let's dispel the myth. They may, in fact, have lacked the names, but "knowing" in music means something else than a dusty stockpile of information and labels. Their ears, their voice, and their hands "knew" very well... Music theory is the way we get some order into the endless realm of possibility that music allows us. Naming and conceptualizing these possibilities is very useful in many ways. It provides us with an overarching and abstract understanding of what we have done (reflective element), and it can even open up to yet unheard sound combinations (generative element). But one point remains crucial: music theories come from music practice and come back to music practice. Theories are the most useful and loyal servants for music-making, but only empty speculations without it. In these lessons, I will help you to understand how to navigate music theories and what to do with them. I will show you a plurality of approaches to systematizing sound relations that will serve at best the music you love to play or want to compose. The lessons will be custom made for each student. Whether you are a beginner who simply wants a little help to get the basics right or you are a cultivated musician fond of music theory who wants to explore advanced and complex concepts out of the box, I will provide you with ideas, materials, and exercises. I will work to adapt to your learning rhythm while keeping you challenged at the same time. You will receive regular feedback, advice, and guidance Don't hesitate to contact me for more details!
