    About Me

Nikos is a guitar player born in Limassol, Cyprus in 1991. He started with guitar around the age of 16 and was mostly self-taught at that time. He initially surrounded himself with Rock/Metal music, built his own band while composing his own songs and eventually started performing in Rock clubs and festivals around the island.

Gradually the musical search moved into Jazz and the improvisational aspect of music. In 2013 he enrolled himself in ArtEZ University of the Arts Arnhem where he obtained his Bachelor degree in Jazz & Pop Guitar Performance.

Through this time, besides leading his own groups with original compositions, being a side-man for various projects within Jazz, Pop and Free Improvised Music he has also performed for dance, film and art productions in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Currently residing in The Hague and doing his Master’s degree at Codarts Rotterdam, he continues to compose new material and develop further in his musical journey with various band formations.

Lessons can be provide through Skype/Zoom/Facetime and other online platforms.

Song Writing Lessons by experienced songwriter and composer
I am a 28-year old guitarist, songwriter and composer based in Den Haag, songwriting, composition, electric and acoustic guitar, in combination with music theory. I teach in English or in Greek. I am half Greek and half Scottish and I have been living in the Netherlands for the last 4 years. I offer lessons in all styles, to all age groups, and for any experience level (ranging from students who have never written a song before, up to experienced songwriters who are looking for fresh ideas and improving their skills to really make their songs shine). Face to face lessons are preferable, but I also teach online. I am a patient and open minded teacher, and my desire is to help you learn what you want to learn, and make sure you enjoy and take pride in your songs, learn to express your musical ideas as best as possible and nurture your curiosity and excitement about the world of music creation ! My Credentials: I hold a Bachelors of Music degree from Birmingham Conservatoire (UK), and a Masters of Music from The Hague Royal Conservatory. My experience as a songwriter and composer ranges from writing songs and singing in indie / off-beat rock bands, solo guitar and vocal performances, home-production of my own songs, creation of instrumental post-rock music, collaborative songwriting in bands, composition of works for classical players, creation of ambient, experimental and electronic music, creation of music for film, and I even some experience in beat-making. I have written songs, I have written orchestra pieces, I have worked as a DIY home producer, I have released albums, and I've performed in concert halls, rock venues, squats and festivals. I My music has been performed in and has taken me to several countries, including Portugal, The Czech Republic, The U.S.A., Canada, Korea, Greece, The U.K., The Netherlands. My Teaching style: My emphasis is to teach you based on your interests and your needs. The lessons are based around each individual student. You bring me the music you are creating and the skills you want to develop as a songwriter, and I build my lessons around that. My primary goal is help you develop your voice as a songwriter, so the starting point for our lessons will always be your music, and then I build our lessons around that. My aim is always to help you find what the heart of the song is about, and help you to bring this out and really make it shine. To help illustrate ideas about topics we discuss I will bring examples that can help inform the music you are creating, we will explore ideas of arrangement, orchestration, band leading and / or production to help flesh out your songs, and we will explore music theory too when that is helpful for us and / or if that is interesting to you. For more experienced songwriters we can explore how to write parts for other players, how to notate and orchestrate songs for acoustic instruments, how to record songs, or how to get the best playing out of your bandmates to help your song shine

Music Theories - Unifying two worlds: how we make music and how we understand it to make it better
What is music theory? Is it just one theory? What do we do with it? How come so many of the greatest musicians didn't know even the name of the notes? Let's dispel the myth. They may, in fact, have lacked the names, but "knowing" in music means something else than a dusty stockpile of information and labels. Their ears, their voice, and their hands "knew" very well... Music theory is the way we get some order into the endless realm of possibility that music allows us. Naming and conceptualizing these possibilities is very useful in many ways. It provides us with an overarching and abstract understanding of what we have done (reflective element), and it can even open up to yet unheard sound combinations (generative element). But one point remains crucial: music theories come from music practice and come back to music practice. Theories are the most useful and loyal servants for music-making, but only empty speculations without it. In these lessons, I will help you to understand how to navigate music theories and what to do with them. I will show you a plurality of approaches to systematizing sound relations that will serve at best the music you love to play or want to compose. The lessons will be custom made for each student. Whether you are a beginner who simply wants a little help to get the basics right or you are a cultivated musician fond of music theory who wants to explore advanced and complex concepts out of the box, I will provide you with ideas, materials, and exercises. I will work to adapt to your learning rhythm while keeping you challenged at the same time. You will receive regular feedback, advice, and guidance Don't hesitate to contact me for more details!

Piano Lessons with two Grand Pianos. Preparations for ABRSM and Competition.
There are two grand pianos at the location. There will be enough distance between the student and the teacher. For children it is important to develop basic musical skill through Singing, Rythmique and Ear training besides the piano playing. I use one technical exercise book, a main text book and a theory book. Through these 3 books students learn different aspects of music and they naturally get ready for exams and grade. After acquiring basic skills, students study Harmony and Chord exercise too. These are useful for playing pops and jazz, and they obtain deeper understanding of classical pieces too. Private Piano lesson, from age 4 above. Children can start the lesson after being able to read the number from 1 to 5 and alphabet from A to G. Advanced students who wants to prepare for competitions, auditions, ABRSM, GCSE, IB exams or the entrance exam of conservatory. Concert is held annually together with students of flute, violin and composition teachers. For the age 1-7 years, I have group Rhythmique lessons.

    Carla Peña
Cello and Music Theory Lessons for all levels and all ages
My name is Carla Peña and I come from Barcelona. Since I was a child, music has played an important role in my life. I started learning music when I was 4 years old and cello when at the age of 6. I discovered the love for music and that is what I share with my students. I have experience teaching cellists of all levels and ages. If you are in The Hague area and you want to learn the cello or improve your playing, you are welcome to do lessons with me! I adapt to the needs and the wishes of the pupil, creating a personal and flexible plan, depending on your time and level. Even though I am specialized in classical music, I can teach different styles from classical to jazz, to film music, pop, … ABOUT ME: I studied my Bachelor in Conservatori Superior del Liceu in Barcelona, with professor Amparo Lacruz. Then, I decided to continue my studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in the class of Michel Strauss and Jan-Ype Nota. During my studies in The Hague, I did a teaching internship at the Royal Conservatory as a part of their Minor in Music Education. I also taught in several Music Schools during my studies in Spain. Currently, I teach private students in The Hague. I play regularly in two chamber music ensembles: Trio Jakob and Azalaïs Quartet. APPROACH: It is very important to share music with other people in order to develop as a musician. That is why I love teaching. I learn from my students as much as they learn from me. In order to learn the technique in an organized way, I use cello methods, choosing the method that adapts better to the needs of the student. I combine it with nice songs in different styles, depending on the taste of the student, from classical to jazz, film music, pop, etc. Playing together is an essential part of enjoying music. Therefore, the last part of the lesson always consists of playing cello duets and having fun!
